I'm just afraid of the 'A' word...I can hardly sleep at night. By living in a town of 3700 we're easy targets...aren't we?

<blockquote>
"The Pentagon survey found that less than half the troops in Iraq thought Iraqi civilians should be treated with dignity and respect."</blockquote>

Hmmm...speaks volumes

It is painfully clear that Bush is lacking in intellect, has no public speaking ability, and is pathetically short on vocabulary.

Bush can only track a single talking point (at best). I would lay money that he did not intend to use the 'A' word twenty-seven times in a single speech--you are giving him way too much credit when you call him cunning--he is simply (pun intended) stupid and stubborn. He knew he had to emphasize his point, and he is completely lacking in the skills needed to do it eloquently or implicitly, so he resorts to repetition.

The man is truly unqualified for his job and, I believe, unable to grasp the situation he has created, and that, to me, is the most shocking part of his continuing term as president after the damage he has done. It is amazing to me that such an incompetent man wreaking so much international havoc is not forced out when they came after Clinton for a sexual dalliance.

BTW, I have nothing against stupid people--we are what we are--but waging war without the capacity to understand, it is unbelievable that Bush is allowed to continue. He likely doesn't even realize he speaks propaganda.

(I watched Idiocracy last night, and I really couldn't tell the difference.)

You know, I recall an article last year about research showing people with psychosis were more likely to vote for Bush. I tried to find it, but the original news article is lost to time--though this does make reference to it:

http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2006/11/29/survey-people-with-psychosis-prefer-bush/

They preserve a key point, which was: “Our study shows that psychotic patients prefer an authoritative leader,” Lohse says. “If your world is very mixed up, there’s something very comforting about someone telling you, ‘This is how it’s going to be.’”

That seems to be the common justification for voting Bush even among non-psychotics(?)--"he may not be perfect, but he stands for what he believes in."

But lately I've been thinking, what if people voted for Bush because they wanted a President who would take the blame when he screwed up? A man who makes his beliefs loudly known will find it harder to hide from his decisions when they go awry, right?

And yet hide he does. It's pretty pitiful.

While I entirely agree with all of this, I just wanted to mention that congress shouldn't be given credit in any way here for trying to stop the war. That bill was flawed on so many levels and would have done essentially nothing to end the war. For example, the "benchmarks" were all at the presidents discretion anyway. The wording of document left the door open to keep at least half the troops in Iraq within the country. Not to mention the incredibly large number of mercenaries within Iraq. Thats right, mercenaries.

For some disturbing analysis about this check out this article please:
http://www.antiwar.com/engelhardt/?articleid=10894

Bush vetoed the bill simply because it would have made it slightly more difficult to pursue his agenda, not because it stood in the way of his agenda.

ah, that's funny. Maybe he was running out of new material. Or you know how some people are nervous at public speaking, and say "um" a lot? His word is "al-qaeda" instead of "um".

The reason he repeats the A-word so many times is to instill a sense of finality to the American opposition. As long as all terrorists are associated with a single organization it will seem like the enemy is genuinely evil, as long as the inexplicable vileness of that organization is a truism. If he described terrorists as a diverse group of people from many lands it would beg the question "Why are so many different people angry?"

Terrorists under my bed? Considering the way this administration has conducted itself, with our own politicians refusing to take an autonomous stand, I believe it.

We need to stop following the leadership of A-words altogether.

The 'A' word has been used to instill a sense of fear in Americans since 9/11... There continues to be the sense of fear because very few Americans are properly educated on the matter.

Why the "Commander Guy" chooses to use the 'A' word 27 times in one frickin' speech is because he wants to pound the fear into the undereducated.

Undereducated fearful Americans = bush thinking he is smarter than he is ...thinking is the keyword...

OR "accidently" lowers a lift on one of those carriers and he disappears forever.

Let's see, we have Al-Qaeda hiding under my bed, even though I'm canadian, the boogie man looks like a nice, smiling neighbour mowing his lawn, and there isn't anything good on TV anymore because Bushieman is an idiot and he's the one that belongs under my bed, under my house as a matter of fact, a few feet down and his face pointing towards China, so when they knock down my house one day, they'll dig him up and give him a few good kicks in the ass which is what he really needs.

They have American Idol, why can't they pick the runner up and make them president? To be honest, it's a crappy prize because they'll be Bush's sucessor, and no one wants to have anyone say "suck," "Bush," and your name in one sentence.

I checked my TV guide, but they haven't put in when the 'A'team is coming on tonight. Anyone know when?

It's clear that Bush only wants to do things his way, and completely ignore the will of the people as well as many branches within his own government, including Congress. I read a laughable quote the other day in the NY Times about Bush vetoing the bill that tied further war spending with a timetable for withdrawl:

<blockquote>
“The question is, ‘Who ought to make that decision, the Congress or the commanders?,’’ Mr. Bush said. “As you know, my position is clear – I’m the commander guy.”
</blockquote>

Next time the commander guy ends up on a military vessel, I hope someone walks him decisively towards a makeshift plank.
