We Rule And You Know It
Welcome to spectacular. Welcome to a completely updated version of MatthewGood.org that you, the user, can customize. From collapsible sidebar menus – yes we have a sidebar now – to the new ‘drag and drop’ feature that allows you to arrange the sidebar to your liking, saving your personal preferences for the next time you visit.
Some things haven’t changed, many have. Upon closer examination you’ll notice that a variety of new content has also been added, such as all new desktops, new free downloads, a new archival infrastructure, a section dedicated to activism, and site updates that appear directly on the sidebar itself.
One of the most important changes is that the website now allows you to view it in two different modes. One is the standard blog presentation, which is the default setting. The other is the Lifestream setting that allows you to view constantly updating information from a variety of sources including del.icio.us, flickr, Twitter, and new site content. To view the Lifestream format, simply navigate to the top left corner of the page and click the ‘Lifestream’ link.
For those of you that aren’t registered members of the website, to use the audio/video player, the forums, the Community IM, and to access downloads and desktops, you will have to sign up for an account. It’s free and only takes a few minutes. Just navigate to the top right of the page and click register and follow the instructions.
For those of you wondering how to manipulate the new sidebar, there is a brief video presentation in the sidebar (we did our best to make it fun and educational) linked at the top of it that walks you through it.
As for the rest, just spend some time messing around with things and bask in the glory that is us.
The website header is not an active link. To return to the site’s main page, simply click the Main link in the top left hand corner of the page.

I knew you guys would buckle and get a sidebar…ha..
Looks nice though; I was totally caught off guard.
June 10th, 2007 at 1:44 pm
also…the video was hilarious….I damn near hit the floor.
June 10th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
hahahahaha that video made me laugh heartily. For that, I thank you.

Safari blows. This can be evidenced by the Stream Icon having a column of a lighter shade of grey behind it in the masthead, and it’s also being all cuddly-like with the text. In Firefox, however, it shows up perfectly!
HA HA HA.
Matty also used to plug FF like crazy, and I bet he was the dealer to many of the current FF users here (me included). But I guess he’s, like, ABOVE IT now, so WHATEVER. Snobs.
:oD

An update for anyone who’s tried to access the downloads or desktops and has been met with missing goods or errors- they’re fixed now.
June 10th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
Best instructional video ever. You should totally franchise out a series.
June 10th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
Whoah! Step away from the keyboard for a few moments and the whole world changes.
Cool. :)
June 10th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
Woo! I love the new digs!
June 10th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
It takes a while for the white background to kick in… strange. Is it an image?
Also ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sidebar
June 10th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
I’m just razzin’ ya, Dude.
(It really is different on mine, though - that I’m using (read: financially stuck with) Panther may have something to do with it? I know I’ve got all the Panther/Safari updates in there.)
It’s OK.

Ugly, could be a color management issue. Different profiles show slight variations in colour dfferently.
dwf - we’ve still got some optimizations to do, which will speed things up a it.
June 10th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Bhahaahahahahahahahaha!
My mother was sitting behind me talking in my ear and I wasn’t listening because your video was playing, and I wanted to crap my pants! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
June 10th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Looks great guys…
June 10th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
I hope that song is on the new album…
June 10th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
I’m not one for awards shows but if that instructional song does not win a Juno I’m gonna lose it.
June 10th, 2007 at 3:16 pm
great work guys…. very nice… man…I was here last night and none of this had gone down… I think it was last night….
June 10th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

June 10th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
I’ve had Born Losers happily stuck in my head lately, now I have that demo song stuck instead. As funny as it is, I need to play the single again quickly.
The site looks great, scared me a bit when I reloaded and it popped up revamped …
June 10th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
Oh wow, we are no longer boring.org!
June 10th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
the demo video so just made my day…
June 10th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Bwahaha. Love the Drag and Drop song.
June 10th, 2007 at 5:02 pm
My God, that was your best song ever.
June 10th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
that video…was amazing.
June 10th, 2007 at 5:50 pm
A side bar??!?!?!?! That’s SO April
June 10th, 2007 at 6:37 pm
I love that the two early tracks when loaded into iTunes have the genre listing as “Awesome”. :)
June 10th, 2007 at 7:23 pm
That instructional video was friggin’ hilarious! First, I was caught totally off guard by the new look of the site, and then when I clicked on the video, I couldn’t stop laughing! Thanks for all of the dedication and hard work, and for cheering me up!
June 10th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
looks pretty cool…it’s going to take a while to get used to
June 10th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
Matt, how’d you keep a straight face while you were putting that little video together?
I would’ve cracked up about halfway through and there would’ve been no way in hell I’d be able to continue.
June 10th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
Very nice. The only teeny criticism I have is that I wouldn’t put the feed icon right next to “Logout.”
June 10th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Jesus, Left Of Normal songs.
June 10th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Wow that video was hilarious. I actually laughed out loud, hard.
I like how you can just turn off your singing ability and do straight-up bad karaoke. So freaking funny!
June 10th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
new look is nice, i like it.
noticed a bad link: the 1440×900 version of the ‘dopple’ desktop, http://www.matthewgood.org/media/desktops/1440×900/dopple1440×900.zip gives a 404
June 10th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Fixed… : )
June 10th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
Wow… you guys are the *spectaculizers*
June 10th, 2007 at 11:53 pm
Great video. Simply great. Other than that hate the sidebar. HATE IT! So freakin pointless! ARGH! That was my rant of the evening.
June 11th, 2007 at 12:17 am
Oh, Patrick:
How can you hate it? You can open and close and drag & drop & EVERYTHING!!! Plus, you can save your settings!
June 11th, 2007 at 2:46 am
Bwahahaha!!
I’m so lame.. I just found and watched the video… That tune isn’t going into the new album??
June 11th, 2007 at 3:14 am
You guys rule indeed. Great looking revamp, as usual.
June 11th, 2007 at 3:32 am
Can’t help but say I like the style of the old webpage better.
But everything takes a while to get used to I guess. And the adaptability of the sidebar sounds awesome.
June 11th, 2007 at 5:56 am
I went away for a day and the whole world changed. At first I thought I was imagining things because it was late and I was drunk. Surreal.
Anyhow, you guys are pretty darn fancy.
I can’t wait to download new/old songs.
Instructional video very, very funny…AND informative! I especially admire the piano work.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:06 am
Phenomenal. Not to sound like a dork, but what CSS resources do you refer to? The drag-and-drop is fantastic.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:53 am
While I do enjoy the sidebar and the video that goes with it, I was really digging the last site design, but I’m sure this will grow on me as new layouts usually do!
June 11th, 2007 at 8:26 am
I think the instructional video needs a sequel…
June 11th, 2007 at 8:48 am

Eh, it’s been done.

[...] Mathew Good has re-designed his site giving prominence to his Lifestream as well as creating some pretty cool collapsible menus. [...]
