Gonzo Leaves The Muppet Show

There are telling signs that your administration is in trouble. One of them is a five-year occupation of a foreign country that was sold the people as a cakewalk, the initial justifications for which were lies, and the fact that you just attempted to compare it to Vietnam using historical inaccuracies in hopes of bolstering resolve. The second would be that you have abused the Constitution more than any other administration in US history. The third would be that your numbers are so dismal that the only reason your head isn’t on a plate is because it’s your second term and Congress, and those on the other side of the isle running for the Presidential nomination of their party, fear how the people might misconstrue attempts to impeach you while ‘the terrorists’ are still on the rampage. The fourth would be that you are likely to be remembered as one of the worst Presidents in American history. The fifth is that those closest to you that have been accused of improprieties are ‘resigning’.

This month has seen the exit of both Karl Rove and Alberto Gonzales, both holdovers from Bush’s tenure in Texas, both at the center of scandals. And while Presidential pardons are surely on Bush’s Christmas list for both men, neither is out of the proverbial woods, despite their ‘decisions’ to leave office. Even as private citizens, both can still be subpoenaed by Congress, and both can still face charges.

Despite what has been claimed of Mr. Rove, he has always been a terrible liar, a reality recently displayed on appearances on various press shows following his announcement to leave the White House.

If you bothered to suffer through some of Alberto Gonzales’ testimony regarding the firing of eight US attorneys, you’re also aware that he too is a terrible liar – either that or a man that suffers from multiple personality disorder. In fact, watching him testify took me back to footage of the tumbling of Nixon’s house of cards and the mass amnesia that spread throughout his administration when its various members were called to testify.

Mr. Bush has said of Gonzales’ resignation…

“…he had been subjected to “months of unfair treatment” and that “his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons”.

Being that it’s common knowledge that ‘resignations’ are usually firings disguised to afford those being sacked to escape with some dignity, I would venture to guess that Mr. Bush’s position on the matter has far more to do with his own self interests than Mr. Gonzales’ feelings.

On a positive note, at least Bobby Kennedy can now stop spinning in his grave.

I remember reading about his appointment several years ago on this very blog. You seemed to suggest at the time that his view of the genevea convention being outdated and quaint as being a bad thing - that it probably wouldn’t turn out too well.

    Well - here we are.

    HA!
Welcome to being a politician! That’s what the job’s about -having your name dragged through the mud etc etc…I mean this isn’t high school…this is the world…you’re not going to be popular all because you hang out with the president…it comes as no surprise that another lame excuse was used for resignation…I bet the salary was pretty good though huh? yeah. months of unfair treatment with a 6 figure income. I bet that healed up his emotional wounds pretty quick didn’t it?
    anywayssss
Matt, do you know where I can see that testimony???

    this is long overdue!!

either he’s a huge liar, and thus, doesn’t respect the american public or think that they’re smart enough to see through his bullshit, or he’s one of the dumbest, most incompetent people to ever serve in that office. i don’t know what’s worse.

Maybe Congress’ favorable rating will go up- from 18% to 19%. The Democrats need to remember that they need Whipping Boys. The American public knows (love him or hate him)Alberto never comitted any crime. Indeed, was never even charged with one. The sun will come up tomorrow and the pols will have lunch soon after. Nothing has changed except the Democrats will need another issue. God knows they are powerless to effect change.

I don’t think he can recall his name either

A couple of things going on here. Former CIA analyst Ray McGovenr and a few of his old pals from the CIA have taken to watching the Bush administration. They believe that the reason Rove left at this juncture is because Cheney wants to go into Iran after putting the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the terrorism list. It seems Rove may have disagreed and got out before he got near the proverbial fan. So did Tony Snow. So did Alberto.

Then there is the 1 billion dollar put option that the Dow Jones Eurostoxx 50 index . This option only come to fruition if it tanks. IS this the same as teh United and American Airline option placed days before September 11th?

Then there is the open letter by a group including former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney that they feel any terror event in the coming months will involve Cheney in some fashion. It would be a false flag event.

SO get the word out, that any terror event will be a false flag event.
