Oct 5: charges may be dropped, link: http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,151677,00.html

At this point it looks like the captain who was commanding the marines in question may have all charges dropped, which could lead to all other charges be dropped. I believe a staff sgt had his charges dropped (in exchange for testifying), and I think there was a recommendation from the hearing officer that charges against lance corporal Sharrat be dropped due to insufficient evidence back in early July, but I can't find anything that indicates that the rest of the marines have had their charges dropped yet.

Yet.

Maybe he has inside info, but the latest story I saw on 10/4 claims the final decision is yet to be made. "The final article 32 proceedings are expected to resume on October 29th against 1st Lt. Andrew A. Grayson, who could be charged with inadequate reporting of the incident."

It's interesting how many immoral actions are financially motivated, and also financially protected. The U.S. government would indeed not sever contracts with Blackwater due to large financial obligations that the Iraqis could care less about. As long as the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor, nobody will be prosecuted under Iraqi or U.S. law. It seems Marshall efficiency is the only way to go when it comes to U.S. - Iraqi relations.
