CFOX’s 20th Annual Food Drive Raises Tens Of Thousands

Last night’s surprise appearance at the Commodore was fun. I only played a handful of songs – it was more of a night for local up and coming acts – but it was great to pitch in to help raise money for the Vancouver Food Bank through CFOX’s annual Santa Fox Food Drive initiative. This year is the Fox’s 20th year doing the food drive and they have raised some 70,000 dollars so far this week – so well done to all of you that have donated.

Since I got home in November I’ve found myself doing a lot of demoing, which comes as a bit of a shock as I hadn’t really written anything while on tour. Thankfully, the guys at Apple were nice enough to help me resolve some audio issues that I’ve been having, and it was great to actually hook up with a few of the people in the Logic/Garageband department down there (I’m pointing at you, John and James).

For those of you waiting on dates for the US tour in the new-year, we should have them up very soon. I’ve gotten a few emails from people in Chicago, and elsewhere, saying that shows have been announced, so sorry for the lag. For those of you in Canada, look for an announcement some time in the new-year regarding a full band tour.

you appeared!, dang, I had thought about going to that too.

my family is exchanging charity donations as gifts this year and I selected the Van food bank. When I was younger in Calgary I ran into hard times and used the food bank a few times myself, an invaluable resource. I’ve since volunteered and donated what I can, there is certainly a need in this city.

I was listening to the fox on the way to work this morning and really appreciated the indie tunes this event has gotten on the air, a refreshing change :)

  30. In Fantastica Says:

Matt, that was awesome to see you at the CFOX concert. I was working the barricade at the Commodore and my supervisor didn’t tell me who the special guest was. Once I saw a techie place a single acoustic guitar on the stage I got optimistic. When I saw you in the backstage I was pretty excited. I must say that was one of the most pleasant surprises I’ve had working at the Commodore.

    Kudos Matt!

  31. leelee Says:

By full band……does that possibly mean…..an electric?????

  32. Witchy Woman Says:

Please Please come back to Bala or as close to Orillia as possible. I complained about the noisy audience at Bala on Thanksgiving but maybe with the full band it will drown out the distraction. I will have my fresh copy of your book so I will be chasing you down to get it signed for sure, lol. Can’t wait………so exciting!Cheers.

  33. erikaburgess Says:

    Please. Portland, OR.

  34. uberadtx Says:

NEW YORK!! Come on, it will be a nice trip! Soo many sights to see. Feel free to come to Long Island also. Its fast becoming the epicenter of some pretty groovy music. How it happened I have no idea but I imagine the suburban wasteland it is has inspired many.Patchogue Theater of the Performing Arts has awesome acoustics.

  35. ErikE Says:

There is now two votes for Portland, OR.

  36. T-Lee Says:

Erik E, how was the trek back home after the Vancouver show?
