    Have you ever heard something or watched something that made your skin crawl? Well that documentry sent my brain into overdrive.

    I have heard of her before, in reports here and there, but due to lack of ability, I was unable to know the whole story.

    I speak 5 languages and after Sept 11, seriously thought about applying for a translator position within the GOV, they had these listing splashed all over the TV. I speak Farsi and Dari fluently. And I am glad that I didnt.

    Sibel, is a true American. One that chose to come here, one who fights for this country everyday. It astonishes me that, no it humbles me, to know that she has endured what most would have just left alone or profitted from.

    What this documentry has come to show me is this ( like I dont/didnt know ):

    This war is defiantly about profits.. its about oil, arms, construction, military technology etc..

    The Bush adminstrations, every single day, is taking more and more civial liberties from us and no one but a select few seem to care. This is really dishearting. Sibel made a excellent point, If we do not stand up and demand the justice for what justice means, and allow them to take away our right to voice our discent, outrage and the ability to question the motives of this current administration, then we will LOSE all freedoms. We will become a nation of people who will be at the whim of a Government that begins to dictate to us what being a American is supposed to be. Rather then the one that was fought for. Its a shame to say, that the greatest nation in the world ( at one time ) is starting to resemble the Roman Empire.

    I give Sibel so much respect, it takes a lot to stand in the shoes she is in, and make the strides to fight for the freedoms she is due. When our own natural citizens, at times, give them away at the drop of a hat. This is not the America that it was 20 years ago and at this rate we will soon fall into the title of : Laughing Stock of the Entire Free World. ( as it is already in some places )

    Thanks, Matthew. I’ve posted this on my Facebook. But I’m pretty sure nobody will watch it. I think the average person doesn’t give flying hoot about anything other than American Idol and their cars.

    I’ve worked at a laboratory for almost two years. Being a shy person I sat quietly most of the time during conversations whether during work or at break-times. A few months in I began to realize that the conversations the people had were NEVER about anything other than food, movies, TV, hunting, sports, or work. Wars were being waged, presidential elections were heating up, former dictators were being hung…..yet nobody once mentioned anything. In fact, about a week after Hussein’s execution I brought it up, just to once have a conversation with a little depth. Turns out there were people there that didn’t even know he had been hanged.

    I was talking to a co-worker a few days ago that says she has never heard of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and wasn’t sure who the current president was. And we live in Canada! I was blown away. When I looked surprised she said, “I don’t pay attention to that stuff.” I was also told by another coworker that I should never discuss religion (which is my favorite subject, being a very vocal atheist) or politics in public or work places. I’m not saying we should be holding debates at work but to be expected to never bring it up?

    I’m sorry for going off on a bit of a tangent here. I guess my point is illustrated by your (Matthew) comment under the next post when you point out how many people had commented on a post about junk mail while so few had added to this conversation.

    Sadly, this is the first I’m hearing about this, but I’m glad I know about it now. It never ceases to amaze me what some people will go through to help others. Sibel Edmonds is a very courageous woman, and should be commended for all her efforts. This video is now also posted on my blog, so I know at least a dozen people will be watching it over the next couple of days. Thanks Matt.

    I’m still trying to find some time to watch the whole video, but I manage to glean the pertinent info about Sibel Edmonds in Wikipedia. It’s a tragedy when someone wants to do what’s right and the people that you thought you trusted turn on you.
