Matthew Good

To say that the last four days has been a whirlwind would be the understatement of the century. To be honest, I really don’t know how artists with significant catalogues choose what it is that they’re going to perform on any given tour, especially those that are employing new bands that have had to learn the material from scratch.

In this instance I’ve had some help in the form of not being able to secure certain samples in a timely fashion, notably the loop used during Near Fantastica, which, given the volume of material that we already have, I made the decision to cut from the mater song list yesterday. I realize it’s a fan favourite, so I apologize in advance.

While there is obviously a certain amount of focus being placed on those songs that I’m widely known for, I have also paid particular attention to performing those that are personal favourites. I will also be doing some material acoustically as well.

Anyway, here’s where I’m at with things song wise. I must also say that an immense amount of credit has to be given Stu, Milos, Blake, Pete, and Dean for getting all of this material down in such a short period of time. I don’t think I have ever played with a better band, and I am very excited for the tour.

The following is the master list. During any given show there will be between 16 and 20 songs I would imagine, depending on encores. As a reference, on the last full band tour we routinely performed 16 songs, encore included.

About This Entry

  1. Hopefully I will hear Running for Home at one of the concerts. Just wondering if you would ever consider playing Ommissions of the Omen, or has that made it on the the never play list with Rico??

    05 / 13 / 08:33
  2. That’s on the I only have so many hours in a day and can’t even remember how to play that song list.

    05 / 13 / 08:37
  3. Haha that’s understandable, I won’t be holding my breath then. Hope you are having fun with the new guys.

    05 / 13 / 08:42
  4. How about Casual Walks i know you said it was held a place close to your heart. Any chacne of reworking and playing that??

    05 / 13 / 08:45
  5. Running For Home by itself would be worth the concert price alone

    05 / 13 / 08:47
  6. Yay for ‘Running for Home’ !

    05 / 13 / 08:47
  7. Giant… Champions… Can’t Get Shot… all the ones from Audio of Being… Running for Home? I’m giddy. All of the above, please! And I am so, so, so happy to see A Single Explosion there. 11 more days… can’t wait.

    05 / 13 / 08:50
  8. Incredibly exciting choices there! Are you sure you can’t do them all in one night?

(Make sure the band rehearses “Happy Birthday to You” for Nanaimo, too.)

    05 / 13 / 08:53
  9. Wow, tremendous master list. Disappointing that NF won’t be played, but there’s plenty on there to make up for it! Curious, was playing it acoustically not an option? (sorry if ‘loop’ applies to acoustic as well, I’m not familiar with that term)

Anything with the piano would be spectacular!! I’ll be at Massey trying not to look too foolish with my constant ear-to-ear smile!

    05 / 13 / 08:54
  10. I get to see you perform twice in one week on this tour - once at home in Winnipeg, and again at Virgin Festival in Calgary. That’s not until mid-June, and my girlfriend is already getting tired of me being so excited.

    05 / 13 / 09:00
  11. Awesome.

    Pure awesome. :D

    05 / 13 / 09:05
  12. Wow! I’m really looking forward to the show!! :)

Less than 3 weeks to go!

    05 / 13 / 09:10
  13. I was hoping empty road would show up in there somewhere, very nice!

    05 / 13 / 09:16
  14. Aw man! Of course you’ve prepared Prime Time Deliverance for the 2008 tour that I don’t get to go see. Rub it in a little more Matthew Good!

    05 / 13 / 09:18
  15. Please remember that not all of these songs will be played every night. And also - if I didn’t list it, it doesn’t have a chance of being played at this point.

    05 / 13 / 09:18
  16. Oh I know what I wanted to add in a comment! We received a bracelet last week in a shipment that made me think of you. It’s a stainless steel bracelet with wood paneling. I laughed so hard I almost cried.

    05 / 13 / 09:37
  17. Well, I think I have my wish list picked out.

Sad to see no Oh Be Joyful on there, I have a sweet dance routine worked out for it.
I’ll have to save it for another time..

=) totally kidding, by the way.

    05 / 13 / 09:39
  18. Blue skies over bad lands is THE song I always wanted to hear you play live with a band. Three concerts, three changes…My fingers are crossed and my heart, open.

    05 / 13 / 09:41
  19. dyamn…I must sneak North over the border (ya, I speak Canadian!! :) your last show in Cleveberg was great and I’d love to see you rock with the band.

(p.s.- my dog Whiskey has a crush on Casey. she’s a Gravy Bone ho :)

    05 / 13 / 09:43
  20. Ok, here’s my dream list:

Odette, It’s Been Awhile, Champions, Explosion, Weapon, Alert Status Red, She’s $$$, Blue Skies, Weapon, Avalanche, Metal Airplanes, TRWWBK, HOSAM, Empty Road, The Boy Come Home, Sort Of, Running with Piano, Suburbia, Tripoli, Advertising, The Fine Art.

    OK? Got that?

    ;)

Holy crap, am I getting crazy excited. Never seen you with a full band…my son has but the timing was off for me as parental health issues trumped the deal. Worth the wait.

    44 days (& counting).

    05 / 13 / 09:54
  21. Fucking woot for A Single Explosion and (this is a surprise coming from me) Sort of a Protest Song.

Curious about the lack of 99% of Us is Failure though.

    05 / 13 / 09:55
  22. Quoting Matthew Good:

Please remember that not all of these songs will be played every night. And also - if I didn’t list it, it doesn’t have a chance of being played at this point.

What, a 40-song set list is too much for you? Pffft.

    05 / 13 / 10:21
  23. Odette and Strangedays!! I am happy! Oh yes!

    05 / 13 / 10:21
  24. Nice. :)

    05 / 13 / 10:27
  25. Let’s Get It On.
Right now if I had to pick one song I would like to hear most, that would be it…
VFest or Vancouver… doesn’t matter which show =)

I know, I know, it’s not on the list… I’m just throwing it out there..

    05 / 13 / 10:36
  26. Trace…look at what you’ve gone and done…now I’ve gotta hear that song before I leave for work. Great choice, too bad it didn’t make it. But there’s nothing stopping us from singing in the street on our way in, no?

Ket, ya mean he’s not playing all of them? Slacker.

    05 / 13 / 10:43
  28. if i see sort of a protest song (acoustic), rat who would be king, and champions of nothing… that would make the show.

how the heck did those guys learn that many songs so quickly??

    05 / 13 / 10:43
  29. I just realized how many kickass songs Matt has. Jesus.

I’ll miss Near Fantastica, but I’m stoked that Born Losers will be played with a full band. It’ll have much more punch.

    05 / 13 / 10:47
  30. Kick-Ass!!!

    05 / 13 / 11:04
  31. If I offer up my first born child for your slave race, can I put in a few requests for guaranteed plays at Massey Hall and/or Mississauga? That’s an awesome list. On second thought, maybe I won’t jinx it by wishing my wishes out loud…

I am tempted to learn to drive again so I can rent a car and spend my summer (re)discovering Ontario.

Hahaha. Sorry Deb, but it’s a hot song. The guitar… mmm.

    05 / 13 / 11:21
  33. Wow, I don’t envy you Matt, having to figure out all the finer details in such a short space of time, but I’m sure we all appreciate that you do. I would settle for any of them! Running for Home, live. The thought just sends a shudder down my spine.

Good luck with the tour, and to everyone going to a show, I’m jealous! That potential set list is near fantastica. (see, you did get it in, you just didn’t know it!)

    05 / 13 / 11:32
  34. DONT CUT RUNNING FOR HOME PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
    I’ll see you in Calgary.
    Good Luck.

    05 / 13 / 11:40
  35. I’m very much looking forward to your performance with the piano, I’ve always loved the piano bits in your songs.

    05 / 13 / 11:40
  36. OHH I am so excited. As long as you play House of Smoke and Mirrors, The Rat Who Would be King, and Prime Time Deliverance I will die a happy woman.

    05 / 13 / 11:54
  37. No Silent Army in the Trees?

    le sigh

    05 / 13 / 12:10
  38. wow, I think I peed myself.

    05 / 13 / 12:39
  39. excellent song lists! have you always played Vox amps? those look nice, new, and shined up!

    05 / 13 / 12:45
  40. I’d travel a third of the way round the world to hear you perform ONE song – ANY song. So 16-ish eases my carbon-footprint-guilt a bit. Shit, the plane’s going to Toronto whether I’m on it or not (and it’s now full), so WTF!! :0)
Odette – fantastic track for getting it on to…
House of – I’ll cry if you do this one…
Seriously though, how do you cover the complexity of the opening of ‘Champions’ live? Such an innovative intro…

    05 / 13 / 12:53
  41. Quoting Jon Dehm:

I just realized how many kickass songs Matt has. Jesus.

I’ll miss Near Fantastica, but I’m stoked that Born Losers will be played with a full band. It’ll have much more punch.

In a Coma is played during long car rides beginning to end no fast forwarding.. ALOT of talent our homeboy has, yeah baby yeah.

SINGLE EXPLOSION!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK MY WORLD…

K, so you mentioned if it’s not on the list chances are it doesn’t have a chance of being played, right? Suburbia is not on the first list…. So, that means it will only be played Acoustic if it’s played at all? sorry, just taking notes….. kidding.

    05 / 13 / 12:59
  42. Would you ever sing Agoraphobe? OMG Ryan in Vancouver with you on stage. That would probably make me bawl my face off…

    05 / 13 / 13:02
  43. p.s. Mr. Bruno playing the his FRIGGING BEAUTIFUL guitar solo on Champions would probably give me a heart attack…… fingers crossed for Roddo in Vancouvero.

Chearleader girl says: GIMME AN RRRRRRRR

    05 / 13 / 13:10
  44. Damnit! I’ll miss this whole tour because of the stupid slowness of getting my passport issued. I miss the grand old days of just flashing my driver’s license and breezing through Exit 53. Have fun at these shows, my Canadian friends (and those who were smart enough to already have passports).

    05 / 13 / 13:18
  45. I don’t think we will ever hear “Fearless” again live and I think that is a real shame

    05 / 13 / 13:26
  46. So many great songs! I was hoping to hear many of the acoustic songs with a full band, but I’m sure I’ll still enjoy the gig.

    05 / 13 / 13:33
  47. Holy crap. I’m salivating already.

    05 / 13 / 13:48
  48. I was crushed to hear that Near Fantastica didn’t make the cut, but was elated just seconds later when I saw what *did* make the cut. In addition to going to the Vancouver and Victoria shows, I think it’s also time to see what’s going on in Nanaimo on June 29th ;-)

I’m anxious to hear re-interpretations of songs both old and new alike. I understand the amount of material your band needs to learn is challenging enough, but the acoustic rework of “Pledge of Allegiance” at your last show in Vancouver is one of the many lasting memories from your concerts.

For every guy in the back that yells “Hello Time Bomb!”, know that there are ten to twenty people quietly anticipating whatever you’re bringing to the road this time around. Please take care of yourself, your health is paramount.

    05 / 13 / 14:03
  49. Lucky folks… I guess he could play the same song 20 times an evening it still would make me happy if he’d just make it over here. When you’re a fan of Matthew Good’s music and living outside North America you become quite decent in terms of song requests and stuff ;oD

    05 / 13 / 14:04
  50. Felt it necessary to clarify the last entry. I wasn’t asking for Pledge of Allegiance to be played, but just saying that the re-interpretation in and of itself was the most memorable part. It’s something unique, something special you share with that audience. That’s got tons of heart.

    PS: Muggy! Comment editing… Stat!

    05 / 13 / 14:10
  51. SUBURBIA AND STRANGE DAYS IN NORTH BAY… PLZ!!!!

    05 / 13 / 14:10
  52. Sort Of A Protest Song. I’m glad to see that.

Maggie says if you play Giant, you better have live cheerleaders!!

    05 / 13 / 14:16
  53. The Rat Who Would Be King. . . my favorite! noT in the states with the band oh well :(

    05 / 13 / 14:18
  54. Great list of songs there… but give us Man of Action, full band, just once (st. catharines, please).

Looking forward to seeing Toronto and Hamilton as well. Should be great as always.

    05 / 13 / 14:26
  55. Quoting D. Lilly:

Sort Of A Protest Song. I’m glad to see that.

Dude, there will be 4 thousand live girl cheerleaders at least!!!

    05 / 13 / 14:40
  56. god those amps are beautiful

    05 / 13 / 15:07
  57. OK…one more try for a show in Whitehorse at the Yukon Arts Centre. Linked in here:

    http://www.yukonartscentre.com

The venue is comparable to the one in Peterborough from what I could gather. Hawksley Workman will be playing the YAC in early June - should be good.

Additional benefits = 18 hours of daylight right now I promise to introduce you to the Yukon Rendezvous Queen (she not only won that contest but the Axe Throwing contest too - you can’t meet a girl like that just anywhere you know - next time somebody tells you to just “shut the fuck up and sing” imagine how handy she would come in).

Having said all that, great set list, sounds like the band is tight. Have fun and bask in the reality you have some pretty devoted fans.

    05 / 13 / 15:09
  58. I have no idea how the Bluesfest show in Ottawa works, will you still do a full set? Also, I know that you probably can’t answer this question if the answer is positive, but do you ever listen to the requests of regular commenters that tell you the show they’re going to? I’ve wondered this for years; every post where you discuss live shows seems to spawn dozens of ‘I hope you play _______ when i’m there at the _______ show’.

    05 / 13 / 15:10
  59. Oh i can just hear it now, in Ottawa, “K-I-C-K-A-S-S !” i am so excited, love Running for home on the list btw

    05 / 13 / 15:12
  60. Thats an excellent set list.

    05 / 13 / 15:53
  61. it’s not a set list.

    05 / 13 / 16:02
  62. sniff, sniff… no more ‘Running For Home’

    05 / 13 / 16:16
  63. That sounds like a great pool of songs from which to choose. Personally, I would love to hear Odette and In A World Called Catastrophe at the Winnipeg show, but whatever is played will be just great. Thanks, Matt, for working so hard to bring us these full band songs, they will be much appreciated!

    05 / 13 / 16:24
  64. I’m really looking forward to your visit to Kamloops, Matt. I won’t make any requests - play whatever you want and enjoy yourself.

    05 / 13 / 16:27
  65. I can die happy if I get to hear the acoustic version of Tripoli in Vancouver.

    05 / 13 / 16:38
  66. great list of songs, can’t wait for the belleville show. Too bad you won’t be playing any of your new stuff, that would’ve been amazing to hear.

    05 / 13 / 16:52
  67. wow… i’ve never heard So Long Mrs. Smith in concert.. that would be pretty cool! I’m going to two shows so maybe it’ll be played at one of them…. cant wait!!!!!!

    05 / 13 / 16:53
  68. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for coming to Barrie!
Please play Suburbia - trust me, it’s appropriate!
    Enjoy your journey!
    See you on the 9th!

    05 / 13 / 17:06
  69. my level of excitement has just quadrupled xD

    05 / 13 / 17:07
  70. LOL @ destined4failure.

And ditto to whoever said they’d like to hear Casual Walks (I know you’re stuffed to the brim with your own music, but ya know, if you should feel like cramming a few extras back in, I’ll be brief and say Casual Walks and As Long As Your Mine. You know, if you feel like crammin’.

and if anybody needs a ticket to the Massey Hall show in Toronto, I’ve got an extra ticket

    05 / 13 / 18:11
  71. Anyone read the update and let out a loud “no!!!”?
    Cause I did.
No Future is X-Rated… ouch, my heart. =(

    05 / 13 / 18:12
  72. Jinxed anyway. Sadness. (Though the rest of the list still kicks ass and any of it will make me happy).

The question is…what would it take for Put Out Your Lights to creep back onto that list? What if I bake you guys cookies and have them delivered to your rehearsal? As many as you want, any flavour…that would be a fair trade, no? Seriously. Super seriously. With sugar on top. Pretty please?

Gah. So close. Story of my life.

    05 / 13 / 18:31
  73. shit you dumped the song I like. . .your doing it on purpose

    05 / 13 / 18:31
  74. seeing shes in it for the money acoustic would be amazing

    05 / 13 / 18:41
  75. i feel dumb just saw it for full band

    05 / 13 / 18:42
  76. Matt I think you forgot “99% of us is failure” lol….seriously.

    05 / 13 / 18:48
  77. Umm… hello?

People take advantage of the demos = no more demos.

People griping/making requests of master list = ?

Most performers don’t let you know in advance what you even have a chance to hear. Just enjoy the show, kids. :)

(Myself, I wouldn’t want to know. Goose that laid the golden egg and all.)

    05 / 13 / 19:08
  78. that’s a good point. what happened to 99% of us is failure? that’s like one of my favourite’s off of the hospital music.

    05 / 13 / 19:08
  79. Hey, I’ll just happy to be there. You could probably do Mary Had A Little Lamb and it’d rock. With the fantastic songs that you’ve got up there, hard to go wrong really.

    05 / 13 / 19:09
  80. Hey, I would’ve loved to hear The Future is X-Rated too, BUT I’m sure that on the night of, I really won’t miss it.

So for everybody complaining, sure it would be great to hear your favourite song, or a specific song favourite or not, but you won’t miss it at the show. Because there’ll be enough kick-assery to make up for any omissions.

    Don’t be greedy!

    05 / 13 / 19:19
  81. Quoting tracy-:

Anyone read the update and let out a loud “no!!!”?
    Cause I did.

I totally did this, especially for The Rat Who Would Be King. Then I reminded myself that I haven’t caught a full band show in close to four years and that I’ll be going nuts no matter what gets played. Being honest, I am a bit disappointed but totally understand that learning tons of songs from scratch with a new band is only so feasible.

Just a question Matt and I am not complaining here, I am actually just curious: A lot of bands work out songs during soundchecks throughout the tour to play more varied setlists (Pearl Jam and Radiohead come to mind.) Why doesn’t this approach work for you? Can’t wait ’til the London show, less than a month to go!

    05 / 13 / 19:41
  82. I’m so glad you are returning to Hamilton. I was shocked to see ’21st century’ wasn’t on the list :(
Anyways, I’d like to hear some covers from you. I’m sure any song you cover would be interesting. What do you think???

    05 / 13 / 19:53
  83. Compared to the 8 shows i grinded out last year .I think any kind of set list that included a full band and acoustic songs would only lead to a climax of emotional solace. Having an artist open enough to allow fans to see what’s on there minds and how the process is gathering is more than any fan of anyone could ask for. What a wicked post and more so…..cry,waiting,hoping i can make my ass to one of these show’s!! So glad to see everything is automatic made the list!! Such a timeless classic!! Imagining, empty road leading to everything is automatic……hmmm…..Cheer’s!!! :)

    05 / 13 / 19:55
  84. I can’t wait to hear you rock out in Blue Skies Over Bad Lands…..oh and EFF it that there is no House of Smoke and Mirrors :P dammit :’(

x-wing is always appreciated though ;)

    05 / 13 / 20:03
  85. Hmmmm…*thinks she did a good job* b/c:

18/23 songs she picked for her “Ultimate Dream Setlist” were mentioned…whoo wee!!:0)
I still think my list would give anyone a happy ending, hehe

Terribly saddened to have no House of Smoke and Mirrors or worst of all Running For Home * had a special note written by that one: “Would be fucking brilliant assuming he has a piano on tour with him”..

The countdown is on, and I am only feeling guilty I never got another ticket for another show.. 1 show, just won’t be enough…!!!

    05 / 13 / 20:35
  86. Can’t get Everything is Automatic loud enough in the car lately… (sure the Orpheum will beat out my sound system lol)…. , and how cool to be watching it right now on youtube only to notice my old apartment building in the video… COOOOOOL.

FINALLY! Someone with whom I can share my pain with!

    05 / 13 / 21:46
  88. Let’s be honest – by the time the “night(s)” arrive, we will have all forgotten The Master List and every song will just be a thrilling surprise. In fact, I’m not even going to look at it any more. I’d rather savour the delicious anticipation. It sounds as though we are all in for a spectacular show whatever – and a long one too. And anyone who heckles near me is gonna get a kick in the b*lls / elbow in the ribs…haha. ;0)

    05 / 13 / 22:26
  89. BTW, is anyone else going to the Kingston show?

    05 / 13 / 22:29
  90. GAWD !

Awesome list … to be able to hear them ALL eh … lol

Can’t wait , hoping some of my personel favs on that list are played at the shows I get to

    05 / 14 / 02:47
  91. Extremely happy and grateful for whatever you decide to do with the list of music you provided.

If we, as fans, can’t be pleased with what comes from that list during a show, then we are not fans.

    Can’t wait!!

  92. Wow I wish I was back in Canada - I know its been asked a million times but is there ANY chance you’ll come to the UK?

    05 / 14 / 04:08
  93. Will you ever play apparitions again non acoustically? Seems you dislike to do it with a band.

    05 / 14 / 04:13
  94. TWILIGHT IN THE VINEYARD….A perfect setting to sing Odette. Maybe an encore Mr. Good??

    05 / 14 / 04:26
  95. for those of you thinking you about not going to shows due to passports… i know they’ve been very lenient with the passport rule since it’s taking some time for people to get them. if you bring your receipt that you applied for a passport your birth certificate they will let you over with no problem. i was told this when i applied for mine a couple months ago.

    05 / 14 / 04:31
  96. Since it is a blues festival here in Ottawa, do you think you need to select songs that fall closer to that genre or do you just pick what you want to play? (Forget for a moment that Donna Summer and Fergie are playing also.)

For example, since Blue Skies has the word ‘Blue’ in it, you have to play that one in Ottawa. And since ‘Black’ goes with ‘Blue’, Black Helicopter needs to be on the list also. Haven’t figured out an argument for X-Wing, but I’ll think of something.

If you need any more help deciding, I’d be happy to select the entire Ottawa set list for you. You know, just to help out ;)

See I was told that you needed a passport, and then I was told that I didn’t need one until July. Now I’m told a receipt will work in place of a passport…My point is that in Vancouver the only seats left now are back row balcony and even if I decide to get those seats I can’t seem a 100% guarantee that I’ll be let back into the states with a receipt or my birth certificate/ID combo. As much as I would die to go to one of the concerts in Vancouver I don’t know if back row balcony is worth the risk of not being let back into the states. I am fortunate that I got to see Matthew’s acoustic show in March, I think I am going to have to live with that for now.

    05 / 14 / 06:00
  98. Thank you for the passport info! :-)

    05 / 14 / 06:00
  99. yay! for single explosion. here’s hoping it makes the set for halifax. plus: are those two vox AC30H2s? can’t wait to hear them in action!

    05 / 14 / 06:04
  100. If you are crossing the border by land you only need a birth certificate and two pieces of photo I.D. They pushed back the date of needing a passport to cross until 2009. Trust me, I live in Windsor — which is right across the border from Detroit — and we don’t need a passport to go over. My dad went shopping in Detroit a couple of weeks ago as a matter of fact and just needed his birth certificate and photo I.D.

    05 / 14 / 06:22
  101. Aah yes just got my tickets today for the July 7th show during the Bluesfest! Finally, it’ll be my first time seeing you LIVE! I am so happy that you’re touring with a band again. Thanks for coming to Ottawa. :-)

    05 / 14 / 07:37
  102. some info on the passport issue, it only took about a week to a week and a half to get mine. but if you don’t have the cash theu pushed back the date for its requirment. i asked and a birth certificate is more than suffiecent to get back home. i live in niagara falls and cross frequently.

on a side note, is there any chance, EVER, of hearing Middle Class Gangsters? I’ll be at the Hamilton show and I cant wait; its been so long since a band show!

    05 / 14 / 08:15
  103. only 10 more sleeps, I am getting excited! I can’t wait to see you with a band again!

    05 / 14 / 08:33
  104. It would be awesome if Running For Home could reappear on the list for Halifax…please?

    05 / 14 / 09:04
  105. Rather disappointed that House of Smoke and Mirrors was removed, along with Running for Home. Despite those two being removed from the list, I still feel that the choice of songs is amazing, and am still salivating at the thought of seeing 4/5ths of those songs being played live.

Just curious though, any reason fated was not included? It seemed to me like your defining moment at Massey Hall on the last tour.

    05 / 14 / 09:06
  106. The guys in the band must be pretty talented to learn all those songs in such a short time - I’m really looking forward to hearing them, whatever songs you choose to play.

    05 / 14 / 09:20
  107. To be totally honest, I don’t care what you play I love all your song, a little bummed that you wont be playing Fearless but totally jumping out of my skin that in 21 days you will be here in Sarnia!!! WOOHOO!!!

    05 / 14 / 10:10
  108. I get to enjoy NOT ONE, BUT TWO SHOWS…Victoria and Nanaimo. One of the shows is on Matt AND my sisters birthday!! She is turning 19. I can feel the hangover already. Oh….and I would kill to hear Everything is Automatic. That is absolutley one of my all time favs…

    05 / 14 / 10:25
  109. GOOD LUCK. GOOD LUCK. GOOD LUCK. :D

    05 / 14 / 10:29
  110. I finally get to see my first Matt Good full band show in Van…..very excited….I really really hope you play some of the older stuff, I really want to hear Giant…and Im now crossing my fingers and hoping Man of Action, The Future is X Rated, While We Were Hunting Rabits, and I Miss New Wave show up….reguardless should be an amazing show, good luck with the rest of the tour..

None of those other songs are on the list of songs that the band learned though. I understand you though…Rabbits and I miss New Waves are two songs I’d die to hear live and I know I probably never will.

    05 / 14 / 10:51
  112. not sure why I looked at the set list, I always liked going to a concert and being surp[rised what the artist was going to throw at us.

I would literally KILL to hear some of the history teacher material!

BTW, is anyone else going to the Kingston show?

No, you will be the only one there.

    05 / 14 / 11:00
  114. Woohoo! I see 99% has been added to the updated list! Hearing that with a full band is likely going to make my life. Makes up for the lack of Near Fantastica and Rabbits, heh.

Odette with full band backup is going to be awesome too. Can’t wait til June 5th!!

    05 / 14 / 11:23
  115. I’m going to be missing the Halifax show this time around. I’m very sad about this as I’ve caught your last three shows at the Marquee club and I would have loved to see the whole band playing in the new venue.

I hope and am sure that it will be great!

    05 / 14 / 11:29
  116. Calgary Virgin Fest Champions of Nothing = Extremely happy me. I was disappointed initially with the announcement of a festival gig in this town, but I got over it. This will be my 37th show, and I’ve heard most, if not all of your older stuff at least once live. Champions is my favorite song from your new record, and I would LOVE to hear its epic glory translated live with the band. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed! If you read this, please consider it an option in Calgary, even if the crowd is “too rowdy” for that type of song. At least one person in the crowd will go home ecstatic:)

  117. The acoustic version of Apparitions is far superior IMO.

  119. *blinks* Is it just me or had Put Out Your Lights been removed from the list at one point? If so I am glad to see it back on there. :P

  121. The bad news: INDESTRUCTIBLE has been taken off the list.
The good news: EVERYTHING IS AUTOMATIC has been added!!! (Must save for Massey show, Matt!)

    05 / 14 / 12:27
  122. hey matt, i know u have alot of songs to reherse…..but if u can fit suburbia, the acoustic version that is on ur web site….i think the would be fucken awesome….if u cant hey i totally understand…….i can understand trying to pick a couple of songs from ur life’s work has to be tuff….but all i’s sure the concert will be great…..

also wondering if u will be signing any autographs after any of ur shows….especially winnipeg…

    05 / 14 / 12:47
  123. Nice variety of songs Matt. Wish you much luck on the tour.

    05 / 14 / 13:21
  124. Wow, very nice pool of songs.
I’ve been desperate to hear Blue Skies, Odette, A Single Explosion and 99% a la full band. I hope to get to hear most of them between the shows in Saskatoon and Lloyd.

    05 / 14 / 13:44
  125. What, no Fated? It’s the best acoustic song. Well whatever. I have a bet with one of my friends that says “A Single Explosion” will be the opening song. My friend thinks Weapon.

    05 / 14 / 14:09
  126. Wait… when was Indestructible on the list?

    05 / 14 / 14:46
  127. i’d give a left nut to hear symbolistic, i had my fingers crossed ah well cest la vie

    05 / 14 / 15:42
  128. I’m thrilled to say that while I’ve been a fan for well over a decade, I am offically attending one of your shows! I have tickets in hand for the Barrie show and am bringing my very good friend who is an avid Country Music lover! Needless to say, I have provided her with a few MG cd’s to catch her up. Fortunately, she is super cool despite her country addiction and who knows, I may have just gotten her hooked on the Good!
    See you at the Roxx!

  131. Great set of songs listed up in here, I’ll be happy simply by attending, the rest will be gravy, however, I wonder if “She’s got a new disguise” would ever get a shot at making a particular set list again?
It’s my fave song off of LOTGA. “Symbolistic white walls” is another I happen to really enjoy.

I just hope she doesn’t ask me to go with her to some country show…like the Random Ranch here in good ol’ Barrie…b/c I don’t have a cowboy hat, or cowboy boots….does anyone have any straw?

    05 / 14 / 17:36
  133. I am soooo psyched at the prospect of hearing The Devil’s in your Details live, and In a World called Catastrophe with the full band. yay!!! :) :)
It’s going to be so awesome!

    05 / 14 / 18:28
  134. Okay! The temptation is too great! I’m going to chance it! But if I can’t get back into the states, somebody’s getting beat with a wet noodle.

So the question is, do I be all brave and go by myself to the Vancouver show with a decent seat? Is there going to be anybody else there alone!? Or do I take the two in the baaack L balcony and offer an 18 y/o blonde and a 25 y/o redhead willing to sit on the laps of anybody with better seats than us?

    05 / 14 / 18:46
  135. i could easily list a couple cuts that i’d really like to hear live on this tour…but when every one is fucking amazing, well, why bother…there’s still at least 5 or 6 tunes on the master list yhat will leave me weeping in a twisted displaced nostalgia that isn’t even mine…like you wrote them all for me…i’ll stand behind you as long as you are ther to stand behind…a paradigm of bravery…and let’s not forget talent and passion with a little ‘fuck you’ for added flavor…i’ll shut up now…

    PeaceLoveandUnderstanding…it’s not funny at all.
