Seems like quite a boring world. Seems eerily akin to life and news in the DPRK, I’d imagine. Brilliant though? That word is thrown around far too liberally these days.
no news at all might be kind of odd. although if it was just positive news I’m sure that would be very odd as well. both things that will never happen. Since people are so addicted to watching human suffering
If that ever happens, the story will be that there is no story, and they’ll talk about nothing for an hour.
Mathematically it must be impossible anyway. If you look at what we consider news-worthy, there cannot be a second go by on any day without there being a birth, a death, a car accident, nor a minutue go by iwthout a plane crash, train crash, shipwreck, or some other kind of catastrophe.
Additionally, if there’s no news you just dredge up a bunch of shit that you already talked about. The sports reporters that cover the Leafs have been doing it for years.
Genius
That really gets the mind thinking. I would prefer that any day over some of the things they call news now a days “And today; The latest man made celebrity clips his toenails” (as half the viewers gasp in awe)
We all need something to take our minds off our own lives, and unfortunately news of tragedy does give you that sense of “at least things aren’t that bad” which makes you feel better. If only there was more of a compromise. Wouldn’t news that somebody has been caught for instigating a tragedy be even better? Or news that the war is in fact over?
If that happens, the first person to discuss the sunrise or the crows who, at the moment, are busy building a nest across from my window would be hailed a hero. I actually think this would go unnoticed by at least some people - there are not a lot of inspirational news and I personally am tired of the tragedies.
Neat. The problem now with 24/7/365 news programmes is that the gaps between ‘real’ news items are constantly being refilled with trivial crap. What beats me is why the newsreaders always come in pairs now. So we get doubledy-crap, which they bat back and forth between themselves.
The day there was no BAD news. It’s funny when you think about it but all we do see on CNN,BBC, MSNBC, etc. is bad news all the freakin’ time. Wouldn’t it be awesome to hear only about the good stuff in this world? All we ever see is pain & drama all the time on TV. It sucks. I think I’ll just get rid of my TV altogether. ;-)
Here’s some real news. I am just watching the BBC coverage of the earthquake in China. Footage shows crushed, dead children – hundreds of them – buried in a collapsed school. A foot here, a hand there…it’s truly shocking. The disgrace is that the building was made of the cheapest materials, to poor standards – certainly way outside of what is safe for an earthquake zone. It is said that the builders may face execution. It seems that shoddy construction, mismanagement and corruption is to blame for the collapse of many of the schools in the region. So, again, the innocent suffer the most…it’s terrible, just terrible.
I think at that point they would start creating news to protect their own asses. Either that or you would be hearing news about a woman stubbing her toe at the state fair or some other crap. News need story to live, feed news NOW, news hungry!!!

I love that news ticker at the bottom. “The United States has not invaded any countries.” Great stuff.
At first, I figured it’d be a parody newscast where they sat around and talked about nothing happening. This was better, in a way.

I suppose it’s ok. I prefer naked news.

The only day there will be “no news” is the day that you’re not deemed worthy of knowing what’s going on.
