The Wave

That, right there, is the most powerful man in the world. A man that the people of the United States elected twice, and one that will go down in the annals of American history as one of the worse Presidents in the nation’s history.

The image is of George Bush arriving in Raleigh, North Carolina. As you can see, two locals showed up to witness it. The video footage, from which this screenshot was taken, shows the President waving to them and then waving again in an exaggerated fashion, as neither of the two responds to his acknowledgement of them.

There are two possibilities. Either both of them are completely blind and simply standing there speculating as to what the loud whirling sound in the distance is, or they represent why Barack Obama is currently 15 points ahead of John McCain in the polls after only a month.

Let’s hope it’s the latter.

In a way, Bush is the reason that the next President is going to be Obama. I don’t really think the American people would have voted for a Democrat (much less a colored one) unless the Republicans had screwed up as badly as they did. Maybe I think the problem of racism is bigger than it really is in the States, though?

Colored one?? And you’re wondering about racism, cracker?

  5. MiggY Says:

For the first time, I disagree with you Matt.
    “Let’s hope it’s the latter”…no; LET’S HOPE ITS BOTH!!!

  6. A.J.Rowley Says:

He’ll have a much better turn out when they try him for war crimes.

  7. Jon Dehm Says:

Not only are there only 2 people there to see him, it looks like they’ve been edited into the frame.

First, “colour” has a U in it. Second (Neon Cowboy blogger formerly known as Vegas Vic - sort of like Prince but different) - I agree with you calling somebody on the use of the word but, really not much point in calling somebody out for using an innapropriate name, and then calling them an innapropriate name.

Actually, ‘color’ is spelled courrectly. Secoundly, I have no idea what the “neon couwboy” is.

Wow, he really packs them in!

  11. Brian Smart Says:

I was joking. US vs. Canadian spelling. Just being neighbourly.

Neon Cowboy = from the casino in your neck of the woods - your previous handle - Vegas Vic as he’s known to folks in Vegas.

  12. pyemaster Says:

Actually ‘color’ isn’t spelt correctly. It’s the mangled afterbirth of the English language that became standard in the US when those in power thought the correct spelling of words was simply too much for their nation and changed the spelling to make it a) easier, and b) to spell more like it sounds.

And that picture is absolutely brilliant. I hope they hang it above the doorway in San Fransisco’s George W. Bush Sewage Plant, if plans go ahead.

  13. Morglor9 Says:

Got a link to that video? Seems like it’d be even more fun to see in action! Or, lack of action, on the part of the locals.

  14. sjay Says:

    This picture says it all.

  15. RRC Says:

He should know because he has a Yale History BA:

“As far as history goes and all of these quotes about people trying to guess what the history of the Bush administration is going to be, you know, I take great comfort in knowing that they don’t know what they are talking about, because history takes a long time for us to reach.”— George W. Bush, Fox News Sunday, Feb10, 2008

However, 61% of historians rate the Bush presidency worst

    and

‘In an informal survey of 109 professional historians conducted over a three-week period through the History News Network, 98.2 percent assessed the presidency of Mr. Bush to be a failure while 1.8 percent classified it as a success.’

First off, there was no need for you to come back with a racial slur, because that only proves the hypocrisy in your question/statement.

Second of all, I just want to make it clear that the word “coloured” is still being used by one of the most “influential civil rights organization in the United States”. Any guesses? The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). I am in no ways condoning the use of the word, but I’m just saying that I think you took it a tad too far.

  18. Sativa Says:

I think on T.V we would see the other angle. Him waving to “all his supporters” Well, this tells the real story deosn’t it?

  19. Robert R Says:

That’s not George Bush! That’s Pete Rose attending an autograph show!

  20. Tuuli22 Says:

I think, as a leader, becoming that isolated and disliked among his own people might have been one reason for Hitler to commit suicide when he knew it was all going to be over pretty soon. Besides the fact of him being a fucking coward who just hadn’t had the balls to face the punishment he deserved.
Taking that into consideration one could almost call Bush courageous *g*

  21. Tony Shucraft Says:

Actually black is the absence of color, while white is all of them.

That’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Good to see the American people have come to their senses :)

  24. KungFooChef Says:

Those two people are in the “Free Speech Zone”

WTF is Bush doing anywhere near that?

  25. RC Says:

    Beauty!

  26. mmaw Says:

Actually, there were many more there to greet him, but they were suspected as being terrorists, so they were all arrested and being held indefinitely at an undisclosed location …

  27. rabz12 Says:

Bush is the stupidest thing that has ever happened to America… and him being in power for the time he was was the biggest mistake.. I hope America has woken up and seen that he has made the world a much worse off place than ever before.. from his inability to speak to the masses to his ridiculoius foreign policies and his constant notion to fight terrorismwhich has led to the death of soo many innocent people both on the warfront and the citizens of countries. I also think that he has angered more countries than ever and has made America an ever more hated country than before… I’m really hoping Barack Obama wins the presidency, however, I would not be surprised to see him get assassinated cause there are many people who are still stuck in the old way.. I hope I’m wrong.. maybe America is ready for a black president.. I wish Canadians had inspiring leaders like that to lead out country.
