Private Screening Of The New Album

Space July 27, 2008, Administrator

As recently announced on Miss604.com, Matthew is going to be holding a special private screening of the demo tracks for the new album for one special person. As the album will not be released until next year, it’s a great opportunity to be one of the first individuals to hear the album in its entirety. The proceeds from the event will go to the Union Gospel Mission, a local Vancouver charity that provides assistance to the homeless.

The event is in the form of an auction, where the highest bidder will be awarded the prize. If you’d like to participate, please visit the auction page and leave a comment to place your bid. The contest will end in a few days, so make sure to head over and place a bid soon to be considered.

Although it would be a dream of a lifetime, as a single working Mom who’s just paid lower mainland property taxes and is living in a leaky condo, I’m having a hard time making ends meet.

    Lame, but true.

I always feel guilty for not being able to donate much to worthy causes…one day, things’ll be different.

Good luck - what a wonderful prize being offered (I couldn’t justify going without my kids anyway…even if I had money to bid).

Some lucky soul will have the experience of a lifetime. The Union Gospel Mission is a very worthy cause…my mother in law and I donate what little we can there. It’s one of the few places that the money actually gets to where it’s intended.

Deb- tons of stuff you can do for the charity without breaking your bank. Every year I would drive around for a couple hours Christmas afternoon & hand out jumbo coffee mugs of hot stew & rolls to whoever I could find in the d/t east side. Cost next to nothing, but it made the commercialism
of the day a bit easier to handle. Toothbrushes & toothpaste is another one of my faves- you can pick them up cheap at the dollar store, but still do something great.

Thanks for the post - the UGM is indeed a very worthy cause :-)

@ Deb - No worries! Everyone does their part and by the sounds of it you do more than your share on an everyday basis and that’s fantastic.

@ K - Good point! My husband and I donate old furniture and clothing to the UGM when we have the chance since they have a thrift store right down on E Hastings Street

I commend you for giving your time for such a worthy cause Matthew. I have a crazy solution for Deb and many others that can’t afford a bidding game , would like to contribute and have a chance at such an amazing prize. Perhaps $25.00 to the cause in Deb’s name and if her bid wins, cool for her or she could draw a name from contributors if she chooses. Just 40 people and the bid is up to $1000. Kinda sucks when those with money are the only contenders and at the end of the day we can all help. Strength in numbers you know. Just a thought- I don’t know if this could be possible to manage?

A great idea to raise money for a worthy cause.
While Matthew’s music and writings certainly help many people through issues and hard times in their lives I’m glad to see that he is using what he loves to raise money for worthy causes.
    Good on your Matt.
    And congrats to whoever wins.

    Doesn’t a ’screening’ involve a screen?

Looks like a good cause though, great idea.

“Screens” were metaphorical etymologically before they were physical. Hence, the “screen” pass, health “screenings”. Now the word sounds weird.

I second the bidding war. It’s a shame such benevolent wars are not sold and reported on as others are.

k…you’re right about that - some good ideas you have there. We take coats, boots, slippers, blankets, etc. down in the winter but I like your suggestions. When my friend next door died, she had really good winter stuff - some of it brand new. She had $$ so it was all well made, heavy duty clothing (she mostly wore men’s clothes). We donated it all to them last winter.

Thanks Rebecca…you’re a wonderful human being.

filbert…aw, what a thoughtful idea. God, people here are amazing.

I would love to be able to participate in the auction….. last I checked the highest bid was $4000. A little too rich for my blood. That would take me over three months to make!! I do donate clothing household items to charity all the time along with baby items too….. so I do try to do my part.

This is such a great idea Matt. The more money we can raise for non-profit’s who do work like this, the better. I work for a non-profit in Grande Prairie,AB with youth at-risk, and without people raising money and donating their time and energy, we would not survive.

Thanks, matt. I wish I could bid. I am poor.
    Ha!

Would love the opportunity to be able to place a bid to be able to contribute to and enjoy both things, but unfortunately at a point where I need to keep a tight budget for a while.. :(

An excellent cause, and congratulations to that very lucky person who gets to enjoy the new music!
