Do you find it a little strange that a media outlet that should be unbiased, in this case the print media, endorses candidates?

    I do.

Can’t stand this kind of news anymore… I’m sick of it really.

Meanwhile, in my town people prefer to demonstrate against a bridge that is about to be built over the Elbe river, since that would cause the

to move on a bit… as if the world hadn’t seen any greater cruelties than that…

I don’t think that it’s bias to show support for a candidate. There’s a difference between opinion and bias.

Can’t we just all get along??

Kidding… I know that the world’s countries will constantly cause conflict with one another, seemingly, indefinitely. It seems no matter who is ‘in charge’, the same results play out again and again and it doesn’t seem to evolve to anything better over the years neither. Maybe that’s just an ignorant and cynical thing for me to state but I’m a bit sick of it all also. I agree with your “If I Were A Tidal Wave” song Matt. To me, that says it all. At least… until I calm down a bit. Even though the media pounds it’s voice into our heads at every turn, it’s nice to see you trying to motivate people to educate themselves, something you’ve always done quite well. I would learn more about politics if I could stand it but every time I begin to contemplate the reasons and logic of it all I end up back in a state of chaos and frustration.

oh, on another note, I’m listening to “Running for Home” at the moment. One of my favorites to harmonize vocals to. Sorry to post such an irrelevant thing but I’m kind of freaking out that I’m able to talk to my musical hero over the internet… something I would never have dreamed of in high school listening to your albums.

Dan: That’s a good point - although I’m no sure why an election would change the fact that many newspapers, magazines, newscasts/stations, and other varieties of media, routinely show their political leanings. Perhaps i’ts a little more obvious when the lawn signs come out. Speaking of which, I’d like to suggest that if all the parties are as serious about the environment as they say they are, that everybody agrees to do away with them next election; they are an absolute eyesore and waste of plastic, carboard, etc.

Good for the Achorage Daily News - that took some balls.

Traditionally, a newspaper had very seperate sections for the News operation and the Editorial section. As long as the two were seperate and labeled, so that readers knew the difference between straight news and opinions, all was well. When editorial opinions began slipping into material that clearly belonged on the News Pages is when the problems (and the arguing) began. People who were not as attentive to the differences, began to mistake opinions from news facts. Was this deliberate? I think it was. The result, to me, is that such Great Newspapers like the New York Times have lost almost all credibility.

It interesting that even a major paper in the state that a candidate is from, doesn’t think that their going to win. What does that say about how much confidence they have?
