But He Wasn’t Guilty Of Murder

So The Juice has been found guilty of not one, not two, but twelve charges of conspiracy to kidnap, armed robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon in Las Vegas. Thirteen years ago he very well may have gotten away with murder, primarily because of mistakes made by prosecutors, police, and, like it or not, the fact that were he found guilty half of Los Angeles would have rioted. That trial became one of the most successful reality television programs in history, though the fact that following it he was found guilty of the crimes in civil court and forced to pay the Goldman’s $33.5 million dollars seemed to attract little attention.

The fact that Simpson is now facing life in prison speaks volumes. Sure, one does have to take into account that maybe he was down on his luck and that after everything that has happened to him the decision to kidnap two sports memorabilia dealers in an attempt to reclaim items that he claims were his was an act of desperation. Then again, he could have always taken legal action regarding the issue rather than kidnapping two people and holding them in a hotel room for two days. The point being – criminality seems to be Simpson’s first choice when it comes to options on how best to deal with something.

Personally, if Simpson, who was refused bail until sentencing, finds himself behind bars for the next ten, twenty, or fifty years, I think it will be a small piece of justice, even if delayed in its occurrence.

I wish you hadn’t put up his photo - I can’t stand looking at that murderer’s face. That man has no soul. Hope he rots in jail.

  3. Jane Smith Says:

Agreed. Won’t the sentences run concurrently though? Unfortunately, a life sentence here rarely means that…
Getting away with murder on a technicality is criminal.
    *trial, not trail? ;0)

Much like any TOOL song, read between the lines.

Nope, it wasn’t. It was a ‘I just woke up’ title.

  6. Jane Smith Says:

you haven’t changed ‘trail’ then…or am I wrong? Sorry, in advance, if I am. Boy do you sleep at strange times… :0)

Karma is a bitch, ain’t it?

I always hoped that some day, his actions of the past would come back to kick in him in the ass in some shape or form.

So happy with the verdict- though it was a long time coming to get a nib ‘o justice… The act itself, shows he no problem engaging in criminally bizarre behaviour. He’s violent and probably a bit sociopathic…that combo is just SCARY… I’m happy society will be a little safer with him off the streets, “Everything in it’s Right Place” huh?

it’s nice to see justice finally being served. I remember being in high school and TV’s were brought in to watch the verdict. It was crazy.
He is a shining example of how celebrities are not above the law (even though it can appear that way sometimes).

And the word of the day…*KARMA*

  11. Michael Eh Says:

It’s ironic that 13 years and a day he got off the first time. I remember it vividly as it was the day my niece was born.

We all watched the verdict at a friends blues bar/ restaurant and were stunned by it. Then it was off to the hospital to see my new born (and only) niece.

Like I said then ‘One day he will meet his maker even though he got away with it’.

Of course this historic verdict reminds me that I’m late sending off my niece’s birthday gift and card, so it’s off to the couriers Monday.

I second that…. but I am totally confused because i posted at 1:30, it went into moderation and now it isn’t here (???), but i can tell you my comment was essentially a combination of all of the above. A little piece of justice has been served, better late than never I suppose. Nice to see him finally being held accountable for his actions…Loooong time coming.

He appears to be somewhat sociopathic and totally exudes bizarre behavior. That, and his tendency to be a violent offender= SCARY. Hopefully society can feel a little safer having someone like him off the street.
“Everything in It’s Right Place” huh?

What a Friday, Bush puts America $850 billion more in debt as one bookend of his legacy and one of the great injustices of the 1990’s is final made right with OJ in jail.

The man is pure evil. Too bad it took so long for him to learn that he is not above the law. Better late than never I guess.

Do you think he will appeal. I mean, I don’t know if that happens in the States. Over here, some particularly high profile prisoners, convicted of murder, have been released on appeal.

    I’m sure he would appeal..

The states is harsher than Canada… They have the death penalty. I hope he sits in a prison cell forever so he can think about what he did..

    Looks good on him….LOSER!

  30. KET Says:

He was found liable in the civil suit and ordered to pay $33.5 million but, as far as I know, the Goldmans have not actually been able to collect any money (thanks to a series of legal loopholes and Simpson’s intrinsic slipperyness). It’s staggering how Simpson has been able to dodge legal bullets left and right throughout his entire life and continue living almost as if nothing happened; what’s worse is his attitude, his audacity, the disrespect he’s shown the Goldmans, and his outright mocking of what happened. It’s nice to see his “nothing sticks to me!” streak finally ended.

  35. kezt777 Says:

While we cannot pass judgment really, and everyone has their opinions on what happened years ago with the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, I for one am hoping that the justice system worked this time. I am tired of seeing celebrities getting off for crimes they have committed whether it be repeated DUIs, possession of controlled substances, and of course rape and murder. Normal every day people get locked away or fined for lesser offenses and cannot use celebrity status to save them - and no one should be able to do that. So what if you were a sports, movie, or rock star… If you do the crime, you should do the time. I recently saw a clip about Michael Vick (Dog Fight court case) saying that he is filing bankruptcy or may have too - well too bad! Are we supposed to cry for him and others like him? The only thing with the OJ Simpson trial is that I hope it was done correctly because while I was one to be glad to see him found guilty, I hope it was for the right reasons and not a lynch-mob. Why? Because we need our justice systems WORK and be fair and just.
