It’s Not Pretty, But It’ll Do For Now

It’s pretty weird using Kubrick again after all these years. Unfortunately, it’s really the only Wordpress theme that I know how to manipulate - and I mean that in the most half assed sense possible. On Tuesday I’ll begin the process of getting quotes on how fast my new design can be implemented, but this is going to have to suffice for the time being.

So enjoy the old school format while it lasts.

Oh, and if you’re having problems with anything, don’t email me or ask me what can be done because the answer’s going to woefully be – “I have no idea”.

We’re a simple folk, and adaptive. Happy Turkey-Day! I’m thankful for this site!

  2. Tuuli22 Says:

Don’t forget to take a break from time to time for all the secondary stuff like for example eating and sleeping …

  3. Jane Smith Says:

It’s beautiful; it’s simple and clean as it is. Form follows function, so..don’t worry so much. Now go enjoy the rest of your weekend. :0)

  4. KET Says:

    There’s no Grandmother-inspired font; I’m leaving.

  5. Anton Says:

    Is this Kubrick?

  6. Jane Smith Says:

Haha Ket…now you are not serious, tell me…
I LOVE the sans font (the designer in me I guess). This is lovely. Crap adjective [lovely] I know, but I feel as though I have just cleared out my wardrobe :0)
The best thing I have seen all day. Trust me, it has been a crap 24 hours, ’til now…
@ Matt…manipulate away, you are doing just great sweetheart…

  7. Dalin Seivewright Says:

    I don’t understand.
Why doesn’t BraveNewCode implement this design? Why are you hiring someone else to do something you could do just as well, if not better with Dale?

  8. Matthew Good Says:

This isn’t permanent, just to hold things over.

  9. Orangepekoe Says:

I was playing online earlier today and when I clicked on matthewgood.org to update the page, this came up. I damn near had a heart attack as I wasn’t sure what the hell happened!
I like this too. Everyone is still here, we’re all still commenting, that’s all that matters. Good job keeping it together. It’s working!
    Happy TG.
    Gobble gobble. :P

  10. kbernardp Says:

    Good luck, man…

  11. Jane Smith Says:

    “Gobble gobble. :P”
I assume that means that, just as I am ready for bed, you are all eating turkey today. Or…maybe not, haha…gulp. ;0)

  12. Orangepekoe Says:

@ Jane– Haha. Turkey my dear, turkey!! LMAO

  13. Jane Smith Says:

    Uh…OK then…whatever floats your boat i guess. Me, I’m a vegetarian meat-eater :0)

“…HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN DECLARED A DISASTER AREA”
I like this little added touch haha.

  15. Walking Catastrophe Says:

    Hey Matt,

I’m not sure if this will be useful to you, but from what I’ve read on their site, it sounds pretty good.

This (http://getk2.com/about/) is a WordPress Template that expands upon the original Kubrick template by making things easier to manipulate and more efficient. The link above explains everything about it a lot better than I can.

    Hope that helps!

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day!

  16. Michael Eh Says:

    Kubrick, he’s an F1 driver isn’t he?

    The site looks great Matt.
Have a great Thanksgiving Day tomorrow!
I’ll be thinking of all my fellow ‘canucks’ feasting on turkey tomorrow while I work =(….

  17. andrea_r Says:

    Oh man. :-/

If you do need a hand, I’m around. Yes, it’s my day job. Pro site is at ronandandrea.com.

  18. Dana Says:

    The site looks fine :)

We are here for the content of the website not for the looks of the website

  19. taro_twist Says:

KET - If you log out and then log back in, you’ll see that the log in page still has the grandma font. I’m sure Matt left that there just for you. =P

Also, I’m totally cool with the new “placeholder” design, Matt. As long as you’re still here and your writing is still here and we’re still here and the comments are still here … that’s all that matters! :D

Don’t drive yourself too crazy getting the new design implemented. Enjoy the turkey! :)

  20. filbertfancy Says:

You’re the best. Luv you more than turkey. Have a splendid Thanksgiving.

  21. Ashleigh-Dawn Says:

It’s not half bad like this.
If it matters for the future design, that orange you used a while back was spectacular:).

  22. theresak Says:

Well…it’s no “hotchickswithdouchebags.com” but it will do. Your humble fans eagerly await the final design. But I’m all for keeping it simple. It’s all about the words in the end.

  23. young305 Says:

man, you should totally leave this…hah..j/k of course

  24. Pazuzu Says:

Oh blue, I love you. What a sight for sore eyes.

  25. Litzi Says:

Honestly, i don’t like it. Where are the flickr pics?
I don’t understand you can’t just keep a design longer than 3 months?

  26. daala Says:

Litzi, the whole point is that it’s not anyone’s business really why the design changes, and that it really isn’t about the design as much as the content.
If you make a little effort in the mean time, you can find all the things that were made accessible in a simpler way beforehand.

  27. Litzi Says:

Sorry for the harsh criticism. But I personally don’t like that many changes in such a short time! And I’m sure that not everyone is so exited when things change quickly after they have already been changed a few weeks before.

  28. J Says:

I have no maladaptivity. Morals aside. I love comming to this site no matter how it looks and wether or not i can add or object to it content.

It’s like having turkey dinner and pumpkin pie, a nice crackling open fire.
Then having ice cream to boot. This is the ice cream. Sorry if this is cheesy. IMO, it’s what i think. Just don’t stop making new music!!!

  29. Krista Says:

I love Kubrick. It’s been the template for my blog since I started and until I find something better, it’ll stay Kubrick forever.

  30. Beautiful101 Says:

    Dear Mr. Good,
It was easier for me to access this site than previously….so best wishes with it, and I do hope you are enjoying a lovely Thanksgiving. Lake Joe was cold in Muskoka, and the leaves magnificent.
Firstly, not that it’s any of my business but upon my return I find the changes to the site. You said: “No one should have to pay to access information.”, to which Sir, I vehemently disagree. For years I have worked as a Publisher of law. The law itself - public documents is easily accessible and free - as it should be. The analysis and expert commentary regarding the law is not free. It is worth something. It is worth the expertise behind the analysis.
We enjoy each others’ company, all of us together. We would happily pay for this. So charge us.

  31. Beautiful101 Says:

And by the way, it’s not a disaster area at all.
    ok done.

  32. donkeygrey Says:

I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t find this disaster area rather appealing in some minimalistic function-before-form sort of way. Keep it like this. Change it. Makes no difference to me as you’ll always be the driving force behind the content and the reason why I come here every day.

  33. Morglor9 Says:

Hey, I’m good with this as long as you can still write, so thanks for keeping at it.

  34. Brian Smart Says:

My Grandfather used to say all the time (like when my brother and I would take him out for dinner - he’d comb his hair and be fixing his tie in front of the mirror)….”Well - it’s good enough for the girls I go out with”.

  35. deb Says:

    We’re all here - it’s all good.

  36. Eva Says:

Plain and simple. Yeah, we’ll all live. ;-)

  37. penguinwings Says:

On occasion, lack of knowledge can be bliss!

  38. polarbear Says:

Most of us could care less what’s on the outside. It’s what’s on the inside that matters most. I’ll take the simple life, Old School included. :)

  39. Snowfalls Says:

Wow interesting look. Love the redecorating.

  40. Sam i am Says:

As long as your still writing Matt, I am forever grateful. The commenting is the icing on top this wonderful experience. I know I say it a lot but…

    Thank you so much.

  41. k Says:

    Kickin’ it old school baby!
