The Unexpected (Updated)
October 24, 2008, Matthew Good Sometimes the unexpected happens. Years ago I had a day off during the making of Beautiful Midnight. Two friends had dropped by my place to get me, as we were going out. While sitting there, we somehow got into a discussion about writing quick songs about nothing. So I picked up this crappy old classical guitar that belonged to my ex-girlfriend and proceeded to play do-do-do-do-do…click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click…do-do-do-do-do. And then the words came - “I found me a reason, so check me tomorrow, we’ll see if I’m leaking, push and push and push till it hurts…”
In about 45 minutes I had what would basically be Hello Time Bomb, which later that night I quickly recorded onto a cassette and we tracked the very next day.
Sometimes the unexpected happens.
Of course, never in my wildest dreams did I think that that song would go on to become one of my biggest singles. I mean let’s face it, I wrote it on a dust covered classical guitar that had been sitting unused behind a large plant for years. But, in the end, that’s how it happened.
Now, that’s not to say that in an attempt to create spa music as a joke I wrote a future hit single – that’s hardly the case. But while messing around with various sounds in an attempt to produce something funny I did accidentally end up with something altogether different.
Sometimes the unexpected happens. Like Great Whales Of The Sea.
Sorry everyone, preview’s over.

LOVE IT!!!!
Man, today has been outstanding. First I get a new HD monitor and then you put a new song online…I seriously don’t see how any other artist/band will be able to come close to your new lp in 2009. You already have the record of the year title and I have only heard like half of the new lp in demo form. Maybe as a christmas present to your fans in the USA you’ll let us hear a more finished version of On Nights Like Tonight and Great Whales of The Sea :)
I also love it
Thank you!
what a good birthday gift! haha
BEAUTIFUL, Matt…
I thought seeing HIgh school musical today was great…. this was THE ICING to my day…
I think I will play it in the background over and over while I do some edits, until it’s no longer available.
Thanks, I needed that!!!
Sounds Great… Very Rich… Is that a close to Final cut??
it’s just the demo. As usual, I did it all just sitting right where I am now.
“all night through” @ about 50 secs., I love the voices/harmony passing each other going in opposite directions in that part.
I get about 4 seconds of sound then it cuts out.
As usual, it sounds like a masterpiece in the making.
Wonderful direction. Nice to hear somethin’ new :)
Are you still rocking GarageBand or have you tried your luck with Logic?
Ableton Live is a really fun prog too if you’re looking at pursuing ambient spa’ness.
Hurrah for Fridays!
Are those real whale songs in the background?
I want a mac, my son loves music, he needs to create.
Awesome. I’m super stoked for anything new! Will this be available for download anytime soon?
and to TLS, you dont need a mac to create. thats just marketing. Get your son a guitar and a 4 track recorder.
delicious!:P
Thanks Sceeve, I think I will. he loves singing… he’s seen and sung every HSM movie now and sings MG in the bath and all over town. He doesn’t stop. Hello, that is my cue…. So, thanks.
right, I should mention he’s only 5… so, this will take a while, until he has a website and a discography like this one. Get back to you in about 10 years. ();()~~~
coool stuff. funny how i picked up my guitar 40 minutes ago and wrote a new full song for the first time in months, then read this entry
If this doesn’t become a hit single, more is wrong with the world than I thought … this is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and it has a really fresh sound that I can’t remember hearing in any of your previous work. Just when I thought you couldn’t top yourself anymore, you go and do it. I really hope this is on Vancouver … although if you make a whole album entitled “Spa Music” that sounds like this, I wouldn’t complain either. :)
Also, I’d never heard the story of how Hello Time Bomb got written before … that’s pretty damn cool! I guess inspiration strikes when we least expect it.
brilliant! (similar the Guinness commercial) I was expecting clicks though
Taro, if he calls the next album ‘Spa music’, all of us will assume the whole album was inspired while Matt spent time in the spa… Sorry, I hope you laughed, it was meant to be funny… couldn’t resist… tee hee.
So often in life the unexpected ones end up being the best ones- no matter what you’re talking about.
Love.
Great tune! Thanks for sharing, it’s much appreciated!
Hauntingly beautiful. It’s quite fitting to include a song that speaks of the wonders of the sea in the Vancouver album. Your lyrics are never predictable or easy to interpret - and always personal. Dissipate as in “drive away”? Who is your muse Matt?
Hello Time Bomb was the first ever Matthew Good Band VIDEO I saw on TV. I came across it in a late night alternative show on german music television and I just thought: ‘who’s that funny guy rocking his head off?’ but then I was just like: ‘Cool.’ ;))
That new song is just great. Hopefully I’ll get it out of my head for tonight since it is 1:45 a.m. and I need to get some sleep…
Fantastic. I don’t know how you do it, accidental or not but that gift of yours is truly something special.
I’m going to listen to it again now. Louder though.
p.s. I think this whale picture needs to be made into an album cover.
TLS - LOL!!! I hadn’t thought of that at all. =P Well, if anyone could create good music based on hanging out at a spa, it would be Matt. :)
- good song!
as an aside
http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/10/pink-floyds-the.html
you have a new reason to write music, and a new market
Super good, as usual.
Thanks
Christopher - Haha, thanks for sharing that link. Is it sad that I’m proud of Pink Floyd for making an album that makes chickens shiver the most? That article + this new demo have totally made my night. :)
WOW, very awesome!
How’d you do the whale sounds? Was that volume swells in conjunction with string bending on the guitar? I was monkeying around with that last night with this other thing I was working on, while in a Syd Barrett like state (no not dead, and not on acid either).
I opted for a haunting sound and while all I could use for now was a repetitive partial pentatonic scale at 8th notes (120BPM), I hoped it would be:
b–65—–65—–.65–
g—-76.56–7656—76
—1e&a2e&a3e&a4e&a
The pattern sounded haunting but I could not do it at 16th notes at 120BPM, at least I think that was the pattern.
But I have to say, creating demos or even just ideas with GarageBand is totally amazing! As a teen, I had to use two tape decks and continuously change the tuning of my guitar because the tape decks were at different speeds.
Yes, Taro, after spending time in a spa, I’m sure Part 2 of Time Bomb would bebirthed…
“European Harsh Massage Lady, push it push it till it hurts, oh yah”
Sorry, it’s Friday, come on ………
Hello Spa Bath Bomb.
Absolutely beautiful. It gave me goosebumps while listening. I don’t know how you do it but the emotions evoked from me every time I hear something new from you is striking.
You are brilliant.
Thanks you thank you.
Awesome song… thanks so much for sharing!!!
Orca, Orca (stands and claps wildy)
Thanks…..totally made my night
I have to agree, some of the best are the ones that just flow out unprovoked. Regardless of how it was created, (crappy guitar or not) the beat was gonna come out and get laid down with some vocals one way or another.
I really like the layering of the vocals and I especially like just before it reaches the 2 minute mark, it’s like “the calm before the storm”. My fave has to be when you come back in at 2:15 or 16 though;)
Interesting story about how “Hello Time Bomb” came to be. As for the demo though, I think I’m in the minority as I’m not all that taken by it. Maybe after a few more listens, or with a revised version were you to return to it. Though it does get me thinking once again of how anxious I am for “Vancouver” to come out, haha. Anyways, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the emails, I will shut up now.
I was only kidding, I LOVE Time Bomb… LOVE IT.. and I love the story of how it came to be..
Sorry for making a mockery of time bomb part 2. god, I wish we had the ability to delete our comments when we realize afterwards that they actually suck and were not funny at all.
Love it!
Coincidentally, I spent the day at Ste Anne’s spa today, and while I was being pampered with a hot stone mud massage they were streaming in some awesome whale noises… pure whale sounds too without the usual accompanying cheesy pan flute. I thought of you and your quest for some good whale sounds and asked the masseuse what CD it was, but she had no clue and told me ask at the front desk. But thanks to a relaxation induced stupor I forgot to ask on checkout. But, it seems that you have it all covered anyway.
Thanks for sharing… what a “whale” of an ending to a perfectly “sub”lime day.
TLS, I just came back and was laughing at your Time Bomb, pt. 2 comment. Did I miss something, lol? I also love Time Bomb (and learning that it came into being with so little fanfare) but thought the Hello Spa Bomb thing was funny, too. …. am I going to get lynched for that now? =P
*ducks and runs*
(and thank you so much for the demo, Matt, since I realize I didn’t say thank you before!)
I find it incredible how great your demo’s sound!
Do you create these demo’s at home on your computer?
Another great sing Matt!
Sometimes not thinking too much or trying too hard does yield the best results. This was pretty cool; very moody. Beginning has a bit of a Flight Recorder vibe going on, which I always listen to when I’m in a certain introspective mood. Gonna keep developing it? (I knew you couldn’t pull off spa cheese; you don’t have it in you. Besides, Enya’s already got the market cornered on new age crap.)
Wow, Matt Good and my favourite wild animal. Sounds just beautiful, Matt! Thanks for sharing.
the most amazing pieces of work come to us without absolutely any thought at all, the thought already existed, waiting for the right time and the appropriate words and melody to make itself heard the way it was meant to be taken..all of your work is a form of expression, works of art which cannot be sold in some little gallery somewhere, price tag in corner or auctioned off to the highest bidder..your music and words reach us all, rich or poor, fortunate or not so. melody speaks volumes when no words can be found, words when shared mean what they say and are full of truth..yet another masterpiece has been created and needs to be shared with all who will listen. absolutely beautiful, if not selected for a ’spa-like’ compilation, it would make a wonderful final cut or secret song on the upcoming ‘vancouver’ album..thank you for sharing :)
Holy shit. Blown away again by your demo. This is awesome! As a non-musician I am once again amazed at the creative process and how something like this comes to life with a computer program and a laptop in the hands of a brilliant creative mind.
I think we’ll be hearing a lot more of this (hope so anyway). Thanks for sharing it - great work.
Nice Work Matt! Look forward to hearing the final laid down cut.
Well that’s pretty damn cool. Thanks. :)
Sweet….
I hope I get to hear this again later on…
wow…really cool, I love the little 80;s vibes that show up in your songs.
I did the same thing Saturday. I was learning another song …and I played a little lick, and thought hmmmm - that would go nice with this other part I have, and in a couple of hours I had a whole song recorded. Of course, it didn’t come out as spectacular as yours did. And mine was called “Chicken Pot pie” not quite as epic.

That’s awesome!! I love how when trying to learn something you create something new! Hopefully stupid things like Bill C61 will be modified so as fair use (even if it sounds similar and not an exact duplicate) will be fair again.
Think of Huey Lewis’ I Want a New Drug and Ray Parker Jr’s Ghostbusters, Huey got 85% of the royalties! I don’t know if it is 85%, but still.
How did you create yours? Do you use an ADAT or portable studio or laptop?
I have an Imac and just recorded direct to garageband. I have Cubase, but I have no idea how to use it correctly yet…too many buttons.
I didn’t realize Huey and Ray Parker had a lawsuit over those…funny, and interesting.
Funny thing is, I was trying to learn one of my favorite songs ever…Echo by Satch (noticed your name) and ended up with what I came up with…I didn’t even use the any of the notes. I started losing focus and was noodling.
It was great to hear the story of how Hello Time Bomb was essentially created.
I have been reading the site for a few years now but never bothered to register. This clip of your song finally made me do it.
It’s wonderful :)
thank you so much!
Matt, that is The song.
That was awesome. Some great big wails coming out of you in this song! I have a visual of everyone who has listened to this just bobbing their heads up and down, loving every minute of it.
Love it! I can’t get over the fact that there are songs turned out on a regular basis and they just get better and better as time goes on.
This song is amazing. I second, third, and fourth anyone who posted that GWotS should be a single. I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying this song.
Never stop making music, I beg you.
Whoa. That’s pretty freaking awesome. And Hello Time Bomb is my very very favorite….always on the ipod mix that one. :-)
Awesome.
Any song that has me going “hmmmm, what Pink Floyd song is this?” is pretty freaking great.
The beginning (whale sounds) gave me chills and made me want to cry. Seriously.
I love that you were actually sitting down trying to make spa music with whale sounds, that would be a fun game. I’m jealous that even when you’re fucking around you make gold.
Wow. Finally, after a looooong time reading your blog, I *actually* happened to hit it on a day with a music sample. This is the only time that’s happened. YAY.
Thanks, Matt. :)
It is ART. Transformer of souls, experimented in many ways, but always intense and unique to each one of us. What I like the most about it, is its uplifting power and the open ended finale…. Magia to my senses.
By the way in my opinion not at all spa music…
Fantastic song, Matt, been looking forward to it all day long while stuck at work.
Dude,
Thank you.
I’ve been working on my own music for some years now, but it all went to shit when I lost my mom last year.
For the first time since, I can honestly say that I’ve been inspired. Not sure why this track, but really, why try to over-analyze?. Point of fact being it’s a surge I haven’t felt for what seems like an eternity.
Bloody wonderful!
I tip my hat, Sir.
Is it just me or is a lot of your stuff sounding a lot like stuff you’d hear off a Pink Floyd record? Seriously, another 15 minutes tacked on to a song like that you’d give Echoes a run for it’s money.
Excellent work. :)
Once again you have made my day! Thank you so much this was awesome to hear and it sounds amazing as always!
You may very well have saved my soul tonight.
Excellent song, I’m impressed
thank you for leaving this up long enough for me to listen to it :o)
it’s beautiful…
ok dude. i cant sleep so im up. dont get rid of this song. its awesome. it made my night.
….would love to listen to this while enjoying a deep sports massage…
Thanks for leaving it up til the middle of the night. I cried it was so beautiful.
Nice story, Matt. You know, I feel like I’m catching up with an old friend. I dropped of the Matt Good trail after ‘Avalanche’ hit, had to follow a rabbit down a hole.
Anyways, ‘Hospital Music’ has been spinning in my iPod for a fortnight and I just wanted to thank you for you sharp tongue anthems of beauty over the years. Your band is second only to Killer Dwarf in my all-time Canadian list.
this honestly made my night.
So glad that I got to share it with my daughter…just picked her up and I was surprised to see it still here.
Thanks for sharing with us…so incredible.
Thanks Matthew. Can’t wait for Vancouver. I guess songs come from funny places sometimes.
“it’s just the demo. As usual, I did it all just sitting right where I am now.”
————————————————————————————
Maybe someone can help me here a bit. Please take into consideration that I am an absolute null regarding anything related to recording and possible new technique stuff for it. But how can - and I hope I got Matt right in that - one single person get a song together completely on his own in his bedroom? I mean, are all the instruments (drums, synths) generated digitally then?
It seems like someone’s keyboard drum playing has improved quite a bit.
Drum solo in the next demo? But seriously, this song made my morning. Good stuff
@ Tuuli22:
I’m exactly sure about Matt’s process but I’ve been in a band for almost for years and we’re putting the finishing touches on our 7th Cd now. I play multiple instruments (guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards, and drum programs) all here in front of my p.c.. Same with the other two guys in the band. In fact, I’ve never been in a real studio in my entire life.
Four years ago we started out with microphones, a four track, and an $800 drum machine. Now that drum machine is selling for $40 on eBay simply because programs like Garageband (which Matt has been known to use on demos) are so good nowadays. You can choose preprogramed drum loops or play every individual beat - and there are literally thousands to choose from - simply by pressing keys on your keyboard.
Our most recent Cd (which got us our first radio play ever) was almost entirely done with the three band members in different cities. We would send each other tracks over the net and and discuss and throw around ideas over MSN, sometimes even using a webcam to let the other guys hear suggestions. Over the Xmas holidays we recorded like mad for two weeks to finish up the 11 track c.d..
I guess I’m rambling a bit here but the answer to your question is yes, pretty much everything can be created digitally and sound pretty good to the average listener. I’m not positive exactly what Matt does digitally but I know he’s talked about playing “finger drums” on his demos. Also on the “making of rooms” you see him playing a neat little keyboard that can potentially be any instrument you desire.
The possibilities are endless.
(Sorry if this message doesn’t make any sense…. I’m suffering through a flu right now).
Work_To_Elevate:
Ha, that’s a great track, Echo. I was going for Surfing with the Alien for a while, pretty tough at times. I also worked a little on Thinking Of You (LOVE the solo, took me 5hrs to learn it, only 45 seconds long, turns out my guitar was slightly out of tune with the song), and…
Circles (intro rhythm)
Satchboogie (intro lick only)
Love Thing (basics of song - not much solos)
Rubina (basics of song)
etc…
I also try a bit of Cliffs of Dover now and again.
Lately, I’ve gone back to the 80’s and started working on Paradise City and Mr Brownstone (the riffs are awesome but not so easy to get right).
I am only using GarageBand for now. I was hoping this Xmas to purchase an Apogee Duet, but as I am still looking for work having just moved from Vancouver to Toronto (fiancee is at UofT for her masters), I don’t know if I’ll sacrifice the $550 for it. Of course I’ll also add in a Avastor 250GB HDD for recording ( don’t use large HDD’s - longer seek times and increased chance of missing track so it will have to wait an entire rotation before finding the track ). And then microphones.
And if I’m doing well with that, I’ll get Logic Express. Less buttons than Logic Pro.
Are you on myspace? I’m not, not confident enough with what I’ve been writing to post it for criticism.
As always - LOVE it!
A+
Emily, not it’s not just you.. I had a guy yell out his window at me one time, on the road asking if Champions of NOthing was a new Pink Floyd song.. I hear it too
Brent MacLean:
Thank you, this makes sense to me at all. I mean, I guessed it would be that way, but to be honest couldn’t quite believe it.
Wow then, but doesn’t that also kill the original atmosphere of recording a song as a band in a way, when everyone does it more or less on his own? Just curious…
Brent MacLean: Holy cow dude, I read your post then checked out your website and listened to your music samples and YOU ROCK!!! I love it all…the voice, the acoustic, the keyboards.. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard anything new that I love, but this I love and am ordering your CD! Awesome!

You are right across the pond from me (sorta)…I’m in Cleveland.
I’m huge fan of Joe..never really learned that much by him though so I figured I would start.
Those Apogee’s sound great. I have a Firepod, it does the trick. I’m just using the internal HD so it gets a little laggy at times.
AFD has a ton of cool riffs on it. Izzy was the man on there.
myspace - click on my username ;D I threw an unfinished rough mix of what I was talking about up there the other day.
…back to Matt’s great spa song. I’m lovin’ it more each time I hear it. Sounds like a bit of the Cure in the guitar parts - very cool.
@ Jenny in Toronto
@Brent MacLean:
I also did the same as Jenny about a month ago and checked your music out. I was very impressed with what I heard. I think you have a bright future ahead to you. I remember you made a comment about not ever getting a chance to see Matt perform in person because of financial reasons. This makes me feel bad, since I’ve seen him play in person three times since March. I hope you can get to see him some day, so just keep putting out the great tunes and it will pay off. I wish you great success!!!
I listened to your song last night just after getting off the phone with my brother, who informed me that he and his family had to put their beloved Golden Retriever “Ben” down yesterday after learning his lungs were full of cancer. It was a comforting song after uncomfortable news. My tears were dripping all over the keyboard.
Brent….another here who’s totally wow’d! And, like Jenny (& pb), how exciting to find something new…I get bored easily and it’s not often I stumble across something I really like. Well done. I’m definitely on board and look forward to purchasing your stuff.
polarbear:
I remember you made a comment about not ever getting a chance to see Matt perform in person because of financial reasons.
————————————————————————————
Ha, me the same. Seeing Matt live would cost me about 5.500 CAD, implying that the show takes place in or around Toronto ;))
Tuuli…it’d be worth it. ;)
One more to Brent:
“….has much more layering than the previous Cd and was actually recorded twice because of a computer failure.”
Ouch, that had to hurt.
I didn’t read through all the comments so i don’t know if anyone asked this yet, but is this going to be on the next disc?
deb: it’d be worth it. ;)
———————————————————————
Oh, I won’t doubt that for a second. Maybe, as soon as the bank crisis settled down a bit, I’ll ask for credit. Let’s see if there’s a bank that’ll rate me as “liquid” ;DDD
Copernicus (my laptop) has been sick for the past week or so, but I’m glad I got him back in time for this!
@Tuuli22
Oh yea, I remember you too. If I won the lottery, I’d buy both your plane tickets. You know, pay it forward… :)
@Jenny In Toronto: Thank you so much. Really, you have no idea how much that means to us. We’re not really well known, even around here. Mainly because we never play live. I have done it a few times but my shyness is pretty big inhibiter. And thank you also for joining our facebook page. Just so you know, all our music is free to download. Always. We never charge for our music, we just want people to give it a shot. I’m so glad you did.
@ Tuuli22: Yeah, sometimes it gets frustrating recording alone most of the time. But for the most part we make do. Plus it really makes the few jams that we get to have all the more enjoyable. Also, especially with the type of music we write, it’s often better to be alone when we’re composing it. Then we take the bones of the song (what I always call the “foundation”) and send it off to the other guys for them to add to and twist and shape.
@polarbear: Thank you for checking us out too! And yeah, Matt hasn’t been to my province in a while now and anytime he’s been in a neighboring province I’ve been unable to make it. I don’t get to see very much in the way of live bands. I saw Bob Dylan this summer past and it was incredible.
@deb: Thank you also for checking us out. You know how everyone remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot? Well, I will always remember where I was when I got the phone call that said my bandmate’s computer crashed, erasing our entire 17 track Cd. It was brutal.
@everyone: I just want to thank anyone that found our band. I never outwardly promoted our band on this site (because that just wouldn’t be cool) but it’s awesome that you are willing to try out independant, unknown groups.
And remember, all our music is FREE. All the time. Feel free to contact me anytime regarding our music.
Dory: Copernicus (my laptop) has been sick for the past week or so

LOL ;))
Wow! Sounds fantastic, I love it.
@ polarbear: Aaaw, that’d be too kind ;)
Na, seriously - it’s a shame ticket prices having exploded over the last years. When I was flying from Dresden to Phoenix in 1996, tickets cost only about 700 Euros each.
this blows. I miss yet another one. Usually they’re posted during the day and I can’t access this site from work (I guess it’s flagged as a dangerously left wing extremist website-just joking Matt), but the one time it’s left up during the evening I don’t come here (I had band practice last night!). Why didn’t I check when I got home?? Because I was filling my face with a triple cheesburger and fries from Wendy’s, THAT’S WHY. Aaarrgghhh.
Where’s the beef indeed.
Brent, why don’t you charge for your music?? I was really looking forward to purchasing it and was a little bewildered to find I could download it all for free… I did and burned it and will play it in my car when I head out today, and I sincerely appreciate it. But seriously, you should charge for it. Aside from the fact that so much hard work must go into creating music that you deserve to be rewarded for, but how do you fund creating a CD when you don’t charge for it??
So I tell you what, next time Matt graces the Rock with his presence, I will buy you a ticket, okay? I’m totally serious, It’s the least I could do.
Good luck with your music, you are very talented and can’t tell you how happy I am to listen to some new awesome tunes!!
Jenny
PS Matt sorry to hijack your blog…
Jenny, that is unbelievably kind of you, but the next time Matt comes here I will be there, no doubt. It’s not that I don’t have the money. It’s just that I didn’t when he was here before (which was years ago, I was just out of high school). Both my wife and I work full time at wonderful jobs. I don’t want to give anyone the impression I’m a starving artist or anything.
Why don’t we charge for our music? The answer is quite simple really: People don’t like to pay for music anymore. We made our first Cd with no expectations whatsoever back in 2004. Turned out a lot a people liked it (or at least said they did). Also a lot of people said they would have preferred to pay for it . So we started to ask them “Would you pay for a c.d.?” They all said yes. We even asked people how much they expect us to charge. Most said 15 dollars was a reasonable price. So, when our 2nd Cd was complete we spent a little more money with the printing and whatnot (still not a crazy amount or anything) thinking, “What the hell, we’ll get the money back anyway.” So we asked for $10 per Cd. But there was a problem. No one wanted to buy it. Whether they actually didn’t like the music or were just too cheap we don’t know. Mostly I think it was the latter. At least I hope it was.
Getting our music heard was more important to us than anything else so we stopped selling and started giving. To this day we still give them away (although we actually make very few C.d.’s anymore, people seem to prefer to download). the only time we sold discs was at a cancer benefit with the proceeds going to the charity.
The bottom line is that we’re not trying to “make it.” We’re not trying to make any money. We have no goals. We don’t even discuss it. We just write and record. That’s it.
See, most people aren’t like you folks on this site. Most of you seem to like to actually support the artists you like and want to actually “own” the releases they produce or at least have the artists receive payment for their work that you might download. But that’s a rarity nowadays I think.
Matt, I too wanna say I’m sorry for the hijack.
Sad that I missed out on the preview - but let me say, hello time bomb is one of my absolute favourites :)
So I’m thinking… since the last demo for the new album was posted a while ago, maybe… bonus track?
@ Brent
I’ve had Unstoppable on YouTube bookmarked for about a year now. ;)
Hey Dorothy, that’s very cool. That little video is just something my friend/bandmate Mark made when he first bought his Mac and discovered the movie software on it. We actually have a local artist (Chad Murphy) doing animation for an upcoming song. We’re pretty excited about it.
I just want to point out that in my first response to Tuuli22 I said “I’m exactly sure about Matt’s process [when recording]“. What meant to say was “I’m NOT exactly sure about Matt’s process.”
I also want to say, as I’ve said before, that Matt’s demos absolutely blow me away. I can only hope to one day be 1/10th the songwriter he is.
the passion in your music… can’t get enough <3
I’m sad to see this demo removed… I could have listened to it often.
I’m just getting to know the MG catalog and I just heard the most incredible song on my husband’s iPod: While we were hunting rabbits. The symphonic strings at the end are so sad…
…I’m just a boat in the ocean
And I’m just a ship lost at sea.
grrrrr…… seeing as I rarely very get sick, much to the chagrin of my friends, it would figure that a demo would be posted while I was in bed producing copious amounts of snot and phlegm. Shit!
