One hundred and forty Iranian protesters have been released, things in Nigeria are spiraling downward, the Senate Judiciary Committee has voted in favour of the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered the closure of Kahrizak prison, in which abuse is widespread (a move made to placate reformists no doubt), and something in Raleigh, North Carolina, has occurred that can best be described as weird.
