Cathair na Gaillimhe

100px-Galway_crestAfter last night’s show at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston I got the chance to spend some time with Corm and Frank, two young men that came all the way from Galway in Ireland to catch a few shows on the tour. Their trials over the last few days have been significant, especially their attempt to get to the Parry Sound show which ended in disaster and a considerable financial loss. I just wanted to quickly say that it was an extreme pleasure to meet and spend some time with both of them.

After the show last night I did what I usually do. I got off stage, had a shower, and went out to the bus. Security was lax, unfortunately, and as I approached it I was besieged by a group of obviously intoxicated fans that made it difficult for me to pass. Corm and Frank, on the other hand, simply stood against the wall of the arena and didn’t attempt to approach me. It wasn’t until one of my crew confronted them and asked if they were the lads from Ireland that they confessed that they were, which led to them being invited onto the bus.

I would like to thank both of them for not only being so gracious, but so dedicated as well. It’s people like that them that make this job worth doing. I wish them safe travels back to Ireland today, a happy Christmas and new year.
