Notes From The Artist
Encapsulated in roughly sixty-four minutes of music is the death of a band too stubborn to realize what it had achieved and too poisoned by envy and politics to continue functioning. If there were any better way to describe the experience of recording The Audio Of Being I would gladly offer it up, but there it is.
Personally exhausted from long months of touring and promoting Beautiful Midnight, and the rapidly growing influence over my life by those making an increasing profit off of me, I found myself living in a hotel room in Whistler, BC, where I was able to piece together enough material to justify entering the studio. But from the start it was a record that bred infighting, one that saw attempts to claim publishing credit surpass what best served the material, a theme that would only be amplified as the process continued. In the end, after months in the studio, the record was delivered to less than satisfactory reviews from the record company who, once again, asked that we return to the studio in an attempt to record something that would help them better promote the release.
In the end, the addition of Truffle Pigs and the ever formulated Anti-Pop didn’t matter. The band had, given its dynamic, run its course.
