We never censor comments based on political or ideological points of view unless they are overtly bigoted or hateful. It is our fervent belief at matthewgood.org that all comments of a thoughtful nature, expressed sincerely with the intent for adding to post discussions, are in everyone’s best interest.
We only delete those comments that are overtly abusive, off-topic, of a nature that attack or seek to abusively comment on an Author’s or Registered User’s personal life, use excessive foul language, include purely ad hominem attacks, or are clearly defamatory, slanderous, or libelous.
All comments are subject to review, and all new members will have their first comment(s) reviewed automatically. This is to prevent spam accounts and abusive content which has been present in the past.
All comments that explicitly or implicitly include seriously threatening statements will be reported immediately to the authorities, along with any information we may have about you. This includes, but it is not limited to: your e-mail and IP addresses, including any previous statements.
FAQ’s
Q: What are you doing with my E-Mail and IP addresses?
A: Nothing, except to log them. However, in the event that a comment breaches our policies, we would use those addresses to inform the proper authorities. Due to continued abuses, this initiative is targeted at reducing the amount of inappropriate statements made on the site.
Q: I posted a comment, started a topic, or made a post, why can’t I see it on the site?
A: The volume of traffic on the site is significant and sometimes our moderators need time to ensure that the content being posted adheres to our policies. Therefore, from time to time, when traffic is heavy, you may experience a slight lag - though such occurrences are very rare.
Q: Why am I blocked from participating on MatthewGood.org?
A: There are a few scenarios in which something might be blocked. If a comment, topic, or post is abusive, off-topic, uses excessive foul language, or includes an ad hominem attack it will not be included in discussion. If a participant has previously posted something that breaks those guidelines, a moderator will ban the commenter’s IP address, in addition to reporting it to the authorities if necessary. This means the abusive commenter is banned from participating on the site in the future, even if later statements are not abusive.
Q: Can I add hyperlinks, bolding, and italics?
A: Yes, if you know how. If you do add hyperlinks, you may have your comment placed in moderation occassionally for spam prevention purposes.
Q: I’ve been banned and wish to repent, can I rejoin?
A: Send us an e-mail at discussion@matthewgood.org and state your case for the court.
