Rod Bruno was born in the back of a runaway Donkey cart on the Strada Lautari during the height of the cold war and the Tony Orlando and Dawn show.
Abandoned by his Mother who took up work as a bearded carnie barker, Rod was soon taken in by a roving band of Gypsies who adopted and raised him as their own. Rod mastered three card Monty by age 6 and soon after became known as the boy who could shop lift a 25 pound turkey.
After repeated stints in the BIG HOUSE, which was actually just a large house up the street were he slept on occasion, Rod began to explore his Gypsy musical roots. He soon mastered the jug and moved on to the Balkan fiddle, which, according to legend, he lit on fire one night in Podhale laughing as it glowed all Halloween orange and chimney red. This terrible insult to his culture, and the fact that the family had actually paid four Turkey’s for the instrument, found Rod cast out from the family and left to his own devices.
Rod now resides in Vancouver B.C and works continuously as a Musician / Troubadour / disgruntled cyber drifter and, according to some - a Turkey broker!
Rod has written, recorded and performed music for over two decades. From indie artist to Major labels, Rod has both fronted bands and slung a guitar and voice for hire on many a recording, motion picture or live performance. He never played Balkan Fiddle again, and, apparently the very mention of it sends him into a rage!
