On the day that I was born, Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel officially entered 4,100 pages of what would later be known as The Pentagon Papers, initially copied and leaked by Daniel Ellsberg, into the official records of The Subcommittee on Public Buildings and Grounds. This move, under Section 6 of the 1st Article of the Constitution, meant that Gravel could broach the content of the papers on the Senate floor without fearing prosecution and, by way of the introduction of the information, have it officially ...More »

First, a big thanks to everyone who came out to the pre-show meet and greet the other day. Most of you probably saw me walking around with my camera at one point getting little video clips of people. Well, here's the end result, plus a couple of additions from a few familiar faces. More »

37 years ago today two of the most wonderful people in the world celebrated the birth of the first of two amazing sons. Who would have dreamed back then the impact this little fellow would have on so many lives. Devotion, loyalty, ethics, morals, integrity, honesty, teacher, truth, grace and generosity. These are but a few words that sum up the man that I am proud to call my best friend. And in case ya'all haven't heard? He makes some pretty fucking great music too!!  Through thick ...More »

I’m back at home, for a night at least. There’s a lot going on out there in the jungle, plenty of nonsense that I could spend my time writing about. But I’m not going to, I’m too tired and too jaded at the moment. That said; it’s good to see the boys. I was also surprised this morning by an early birthday gift from Keira, which ranks up there with my all time ‘best gift ever’ - the Pittsburgh Pirates hat and new glove that my ...More »

What a blessed day indeed... that God saw fit to gift the likes of us onto this mortal coil on the same day... And I can't fathom why in the great diabolical blue fudge that it wouldn't be, it's Roy's (posted below) birthday today. Happy Birthday Roy. Congratulations on your successful existence to this point! Keep it up! More »

First, this website couldn’t run without the efforts of Dale Mugford. Second, his immense talents have, over the last year, made matthewgood.org more than I would have ever thought possible. But I don’t need to sit here and tell all of you how much work he puts into it or how talented he is – most of you are already well aware of that. More than his web talents, Dale is an excellent human being from top to bottom and it has been an honour ...More »

Today is my best friend’s 40th birthday. I’ll not launch into a massive accounting of why Rod is my best friend, as many of the reasons are ones that remain between he and I alone, and that are, in truth, almost impossible to explain. We have, over the last two years, traveled the paths of loss and death and the limits of sanity together, and through it all have somehow been able to retain some semblance of humour. In many ways, when we are together, ...More »

Several weeks ago a fan e-mailed us and asked a special favor. Due to the circumstances of my joining the tour, we were able to make it happen. Kelly mailed us some fan art of Matt, and I brought it on tour and Matt signed it for Patrick's birthday and mailed it back to her. He sent me a thank you note today, and a picture of himself with the artwork. "My birthday is on Nov. 6th, and I have gotten the most thoughtful thing from my ...More »

Today is my mother’s 65th birthday. It’s difficult to put into words the role that my mother has played in my life, but it’s safe to say that without her I wouldn’t be writing this right now, you wouldn’t have ever read it, I would have never played or recorded a single note of music, penned a single story, or drawn a single picture. Both of my parents have always been enormously supportive of me throughout my life, and for that I will always be ...More »
