It’s been removed from YouTube, but NBC has it. So here it is, last night’s opening SNL skit parodying Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton… More »

I won't bother to write out a piece on the most formidable socially-aware, brilliant comedian of our time, George Carlin, as there's lots of press and other great entries floating around today. Suffice it to say his death is a huge loss that people the world over will mourn, and though sad I'm sure most will celebrate his life, instead. Below you'll find Reuter's press release, and a vide of George, discussing death itself. you can do a quick search on YouTube and see lots of ...More »

When it comes to hockey I have a dirty little secret. I’m a Habs fan. And nothing makes a Habs fan more happy than seeing them stick it to Boston in the first two games of the opening round of the playoffs. Granted, last night’s game was won in overtime and was nowhere near the thrashing that game one was, but I’ll take it nonetheless. This season the Canadiens have gone undefeated against Boston, winning all eight encounters, which obviously puts Montreal in a rather ...More »

First, my entry last night entitled ‘you see’, was actually a just a test post, so it shares no relevance to this entry. I didn’t watch the Junos last night. In fact, I don’t own a television. But on this occasion I wish that I had watched, just for the diatribe of host Russell Peters. If there’s one thing the Junos are known for it’s how utterly painful most of its hosts have been. Last night, from some of the excerpts that I have read, ...More »

A few things to mention while I slip in and out of consciousness due to this ridiculous cold that I’ve caught. The situation in Kenya remains precarious. Both Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga have agreed to begin negotiations, so let’s hope it leads to something substantial. In Afghanistan, the Upper House of Parliament is supporting the death sentence of a journalist for blasphemy (the distribution of an article insulting to Islam). During last night’s State Of The Union address, President Bush went out of ...More »

It was kind of impromptu and rather strange, but Matt accepted a by-phone invitation this afternoon to record a live 10-minute interview with president George Bush for his weekly podcast. Bush wanted to talk website design and about Matt's political opinions, which made for interesting fare. We assume most of you missed it, so we're playing it here and offering it for download to all. 2 AM, sirens down the street, nothing out of the ordinary. Haven’t been sleeping much, not really for the last 26 hours or so. Been recording a lot, can’t get God Only Knows out of my head, the Wrecking Crew, lush 60’s sonics. Came across a tribute to Ike Turner earlier today, didn’t mention him beating the shit out of Tina. The Turkish air force bombed PKK targets in northern Iraq yesterday. They’ve claimed that the United States gave them “tacit approval by opening Iraqi ...More »
