Now the guy who said that is the same guy who said:
"I'll beat him so bad he'll need a shoehorn to put his hat on".
We're beginning to lose them you know, the ones that would see a camera as an opportunity and a forum and not as a paycheck.
I wish we still had a guy like the GOAT of then around today.
Would there be such outcry and distrust against Islam and things not white?
Such a fear of things foreign?
I think ...More »

It's been awhile since we've posted anything with regard to how this ship sails, so I thought I would take the opportunity to both explain a couple things with regards to how we operate here, and educate some of the newer registered users on the site on how administrating is done.
First off, the admin is not me, nor Matt, nor Sonny, nor Duane in particular- on a given day, it's someone who works on the site or is in Matt's camp that has access to ...More »

Alerts on the news don't reach me
Alone huddled, rambling thoughts
Frozen one by one like my fingers
Called every single sheltered box
The phonebook could name
No room, no board, no respite
I'll only sleep tonight
If I'm dead
And if I die tonight
Tomorrow the news
Won't know me alive
Like you did

This past few weeks has been a whirlwind for me, as Sara and I put our names to an offer to purchase a loft in downtown Hamilton, and scrambled to get our documents and conditions met before this Sunday. We now move in February 1st.
Also, I signed papers to file a lawsuit regarding my injury, something that I deliberated but have ultimately been forced to pursue based upon my current health and the apparent long-term affects upon my quality of life going forward.
In both ...More »

Don't say the holiday spirit doesn't come around my door. Checking my messages today, I found a phone call which I can not really explain, nor can I stop thinking about. It's both funny and scary at the same time.
Enjoy.

An entry from long-time reader, and friend, Dan Lilly.
Manuel Jesus Cordova-Soberanes left his home in Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico to seek work in the United States as a bricklayer. He left his four children behind and began his dangerous journey. Two days later he happened upon 9 year-old Christopher Buztheitner walking along a forest service road north of Nogales, Arizona. Christopher had shorts and a t shirt on and Manuel could see that the boy's leg was bruised. Manuel does not speak English. Christopher does ...More »

This may make you cry; it may make you laugh; or it may, as it did Sara, make you revile and feel a serious, graven error has occurred.
Canada's crooner has released another disc with some of rock's quintessential classics, this time he's Anka'd a whole new breed of tracks that have graves rolling and people like me grinding my teeth.
Paul Anka released a disc of rock standards done disservice in 2005, when he deafened the world with Rock Swings, which included his 'interesting' takes on ...More »

Are you sick and tired of hearing about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? The Bush Administration? Death tolls, illegalities, indiscretions, lies, spin, Osama Bin Laden, 9/11, terrorism, global warming (or its other moniker climate change), tsunamis, hurricanes, Kim Il Sung, nuclear and biological weapons, bird flu virus, blackwater, et. al?
Why? Perhaps it's information overload, an increasing feeling of disconnectedness, powerlessness, and overall dysphoria, or maybe you're just too damn busy to care about everything that's going awry in the world.
We live in the culture ...More »

When I was out in Toronto for Matt's Massey Hall show, it was suggested that perhaps I could start contributing an entry over two over here. So, without further ado, here goes.
First let me say that I consider it a pretty big honour to be able to lend my voice to those already present. I have nothing but respect for every contributor here, and I admire the thought and the passion behind most entries here. I had a couple of ...More »

On an idle day somewhere north of Toronto, I'm bunkered down in the tour bus and reading numerous articles on anti-war.com, The Independent, and Washington Post. I got to thinking after I stumbled across a quote by Jeanette Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress: "You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake"...
It seems impenetrable logic now: You can't "win" this war in iraq. Yet time and time again the concepts of winning and losing are jammed into our ears ...More »
