I’ve been asked in countless interviews if it catches up with me every night, singing these songs, having to relive their meaning. I commonly answer that they don’t impact me in a negative way, and that’s true for the most part. Consciously, anyway. Subconsciously I’m not so sure.

June was named after the Roman Goddess Juno, just as July was named after Julius Caesar, and August after his great nephew, Augustus.
For some reason June is a weird month for me. Everything paramount in my life has occurred in June. I was born in June, I got married in June, my divorce will become official at the beginning of June, and Casey, with whom I have closest relationship of all my dogs, was also born in June.

Harvey Pekar once said that he would sometimes wake up and feel a body next to him like an amputee feels a phantom limb. I have, over the last year, been confronted with that sensation, be it in my own bed, in a hotel room, or in a bunk on a tour bus. I suppose for some it can represent relief, for others sadness, but for me it always just ends up with some lame neo-urban redefinition of accountability punching me in the head.
