Tonight Canada's only current professional boxing title holder (and fan of the site), Steve Molitor, defends his IBF title for the fifth time at Casino Rama near Orillia Ontario. If you're too far from Buffalo to see Matt play, but close enough to Orillia, maybe you would check it out. It can also be viewed on TSN at 1030 ET. There's really nothing like a title fight in a Casino. Like golf, tennis, football and cricket, boxing is still a very popular sport on the international scene. While ...More »

Oh sweet lord fellow Canucks! CBC has passed on a new deal for the rights to the Hockey Night In Canada theme song that was used on the broadcaster's hockey programming for the past 4 decades. That's right: duh da duh da duh.... gone! More »

There is no greater tradition in sports than the FA Cup. No other competition of such prestigious history exists that allows teams from all divisions of play to compete against each other in an attempt to covet the sport’s oldest prize. The FA Cup brought us the term ‘giant killer’, employed to denote the defeat of top-flight clubs by those of significantly less notoriety. This year’s final represents that tradition, as it will feature Portsmouth and Cardiff, the latter of which hasn’t appeared in the ...More »

It is a beautiful day here in the fired up city of Toronto. The sun is shining, the temperature is finally climbing and last night 50,000 fans made their way downtown to celebrate the home opener at the SkyDOME for the Jays, who went on to lay the knuckles to last year's World Series champs - the Boston Red Sox. Courtesy of my buddy Px All this feel good is helping me to forget about the hangover from those "other guys". Vancouver fans, I'm ...More »

Sorry about the late post, it should haveve been here on Saturday morning, but I was working and then rushing into Toronto to celebrate Raymi's birthday. Her official Birthday is today, and it is also Samar's Birthday today too. So happy birthday to both of them! It's a rainy day here in the beautiful city of Toronto, but more importantly it's a rainy day in the beautiful city of NYC - and that means the Jays-Yankees game is likely to be postponed. The rain ...More »

The Bush administration lied about their reasons for invading Iraq and committed a treasonous act by outing an undercover CIA agent… Meanwhile the Middle East remains a powder keg of distrust and malice, Afghanistan has been ignored, Osama Bin Laden is running around free in the mountains of Pakistan and we still have no sound, truthful and valid explanation for the events of 9/11… But thank God Congress is investigating the abuse of steroids in Major League Baseball… The United States has been accused ...More »

I’ve been trying to take a break from the usual, that being the multinational pastime - wholesale slaughter. Given life in these parts, you wouldn’t think that to be the case, but as sure as there’s a Super Bowl’s in January, the world just doesn’t seem to be able to get enough of it. It’s like the crack of nations. When I was a kid there were Coke commercials that promised a brighter tomorrow. I believed them. I was 10. You see my point. Mind you, while ...More »

Sorry about the hiatus, I've been stuck on an algorithm that will explain my ridiculous loyalty to the Maple Leafs... It's a beautiful day here in Toronto. It's cold, even for the Aki Berg of authors, but I like that, and seeing as how I'll be in Brandon Manitoba in less than a week, I better get used to it. Brandon, my old stomping grounds. The Wheat Kings, Houston's, and ....hmmmm....that's about it kids. Let's get right to it. Nobody asked me but... If the proposed extension to the ...More »
