Watches
As some of you might know, I’m a watch collector. That said, I don’t focus on high end watches as there are far better options at lower price points. I also collect vintage watches, which both of my grail watches are.
The first is a 1971 Omega Seamaster. I was born in 1971 so it’s obviously very, very special. The second is a 1961 Omega Seamaster automatic.
Omega is my favourite brand. My absolute dream watch is a 1971 Speedmaster. Unfortunately they’re more expensive than a brand new Speedmaster.
Beyond that I’m a huge Timex guy. My most prized Timex is a 1959 Timex 100 gifted me for my birthday by my close friend Steve. One of my weak spots is collecting their Pan Am series, as well as their Waterbury and Marlin automatics. While many don’t know, the name Timex was only introduced in 1950. Prior to that the Waterbury company dates back to 1854.
As a collector, I also have a list of dream watches that I’d like to own but basically never will. One can always dream. They’re as follows.

Hi Matt. Don't know if you're a fan of William Gibson, but the 3rd novel in his Bridge trilogy(ish), All Tomorrow's Parties, has one of the main characters wearing a JLC Mk XI, and the plot centres around the search for a specific watch (also a JLC) worn by the antagonist. Gibson has a thing for watches, himself. The whole trilogy* is solid (Virtual Light, then Idoru, then ATP), I think - the future of that set seems much closer, now, than it did when I first read it.
